I actually didn't play any, and I did like 15 matches or so. Is she good then? I still haven't bought some of the newer characters myself; I've skipped Hero and Byleth, but I'll probably get Min Min at some point.

I dont have Min Min, but going to buy the season pass eventually.

I dont think she is really that great. You get used to her gimmicks and she loses her appeal. I think she was easy to ledgetrap and kill, but Falcon is all melee and it was hard to get into her face sometimes when it got laggy. I played Ridley against one and it was tons easier with fireballs.

GGs pojr I have work tomorrow so I'll sleep now. I also finally beat crown's Ike and with a thunder read too. I need to utilize thunder more otherwise I'll keep struggling to seal stocks at times. Also Ike's aether at the ledge vs Pichu is disgusting.

I finally played against a Min Min. Dear lord, I stood no chance. Zoning is Pirahna Plants bread and butter, but her range is the entire length of the stage, and her smash attacks even curve downward to prevent climbing back up. I have no idea how to fight against that thing.

I signed up for the tournament, but I ended up deciding to take the DQ. I didn't realize how big this tournament was, and a lot of the good players were in wumbos discord. I didn't like what I was hearing in the discord, I kept hearing shit like "my bracket is easy, I'm basically top 16 already lmao" and just a lot of elitist to stuff like that, and a lot of people were complaining about their seading position. It gave me a bad taste in my mouth tbh. So I asked the TO's to DQ me.

Sorry man my back's been killing me so I haven't played too much except when I can muster at a friend's stream.

Also pojr don't get discouraged about what happened today. Like from talking to others everyone got shit on. One of Hungrybox's people started insulting crown over seeding and it was general chaos. Even hbox was bitching about seeding on his stream. They didn't expect the tournament to get as big as it did and so it attracted a lot of high profile wifi warriors who started complaining about seeding and they started boasting. I hope none of the regulars gave elitism talk that rubbed you the wrong way.

On the plus side they did manage to raise 1.3k for the charity event. Don't get so down over it, I still think the community at large is pretty welcoming among the regulars.

I'm generally sometimes pessimistic about Pichu, I think power creep is going to fuck the character over if the balance team is going in the direction of buffing kill power and giving kill confirms to other characters, but low tier is pretty out there at least for now.

Pichu movement isn't too impressive when you look at the raw data. Pichu has above average ground moment, very good air acceleration and fall speed but pretty slow air speed, almost the same as Peach, and the worst fast fall multiplier in the game, it's the same as it was in melee, so Pichu fast fall speed is almost the same as a much floatier Pika. Overall nothing really special. Pichu pressure is also artificial. Only nair and down tilt are safe on shield, every other move Pichu has isn't and Pichu can't autocancel fair or bair like Pika can.

I think that's a reasonable take but low tier is still a little bit off. I can see the argument for mid tier, I personally think the character is on the lower ends of high tier. Maybe dabuz values consistency seeing as Marth is also low while he and Lucina being a lot closer than Pikachu and Pichu.

Also there is a lot of other spicy takes there like Pit over Inkling lmao

Is Lucario really that bad? I know Mewtwo was probably that bad before but even after the buffs? I thought Link and Ken were considered high tier by most people? Is Icies really that bad or is it more just that they're too technical to be properly represented in tournament?

Other than that stuff I mostly agree with the list, Hannibal already raised the point about Pit being higher than Inkling. I mean I get nobody plays Inkling at top level but they probably still belong in the "top tier but balanced" category. Maybe towards the bottom of it, but still. And I thought almost everyone agreed Pit was incredibly average, he was buffed that significantly?

Edit: I also wonder what people think about Ike's buffs and nerfs in regards to how it might have changed his place on the tier list. The nair nerf seems like it hurts a lot, did the other buffs make up for it?

Wumbo and his community have been great. It was the outsiders that gave me the bad taste. The ones that joined the discord for the tournament and then bounced right after. I also didn't like the things CrownPeachy was saying about me in the stream last night

Also Ace, I'd love to play melee. I've just been too lazy to learn how to do all of that stuff to play online lol.

Setting up all that stuff to play Melee is exponentially easier than playing Melee well, trust me. I would love to play you if you ever end up doing it, though. As you probably know by now I love providing whatever insight I have, even if it is from a mid-level perspective.

That's uh, that's a tier list alright. Regardless of order, most of the top tier has a pretty reasonable cast to be considered top tier characters. The rest of the list below the top tier is pretty eye brow raising all around.

I'm glad so many people are getting into Melee now. But it is funny that you can immediately tell who has and hasn't ever played Melee just by the way they (try to) recover.

To add to that Lucario also feels awkward to control and all his moves feel clunky. Also probably has one of the worst jabs in the game, you can't even set up jab locks with it.

There's also the issue of everyone else getting better at killing via patches. Pichu doesn't require damage to actually play the game unlike Lucario.

I'm new to melee. I only know a handful of the differences. Air dodging is much different, there's wavedashing and characters seem to fall faster.

Today apparently I was playing Isabelle wrong and making someone cringe in chat for not using lloid too much, which is fair I mostly use it for ledgetrapping to cover roll but it rubbed me off the wrong way. Admittedly I probably don't use the character in the best way but it's a way I have fun. I may not have been playing too well today, and I ran into lag as well, but my Isabelle has beaten some of the better players in that stream and has come close to beaten their best player.

I get tilted a lot by comments, more than I should to be honest. But you never know someone's attitude, they might have been joking. or maybe they thought you were really good, and we're desperate to critique something you were doing wrong. Your Isabelle always manages to beat all of my characters lol.

I dont think he was joking, I haven't really seen that person on stream before. I just played it off. But I wasn't playing well today and the ganon I faced started lagging out of nowhere when he beat me. I think I've beaten every single regular Zelda player in that stream with Isabelle, including Ilyana, so I don't think I'm playing too bad.

It's like I'm cool with critique but when he said he was getting off the stream from watching me play that came off in the worst way.

It's not even like Llyod mine is an incredible move anyway. Yeah it's good, you probably pretty much always want one set if you can, but it has a lot of issues. I think it's not great against rush down characters, it takes a good half second to set a mine and a character like Inkling or Falcon will oftentimes punish you hard for that. Sure, if you're camping hard enough you can create your own opportunities, but it's not always a viable option. Isabelle's slingshot is good but it's basically all she has to zone besides the mine IIRC, and it's really not that hard to work around. (Edit: I forgot about fishing rod though you can hardly consider that a zoning tool, I think it's really only useful for ledge trapping). There's also the fact that the mine is very easy to destroy. I've always had the feeling that setting it between stocks is pretty pointless since an invincible opponent can just walk over it to destroy it. Although it is a good way to make them waste their invincibility by setting it in one area and then retreating to another, since they have to make the choice to either attack you or destroy the mine.

Also something I don't really see you do Hannibal IIRC is set mines on the platforms, seems to me that could be good especially if you set them in a way that's awkward for the character you're fighting to destroy them. For example, Falcon can destroy them with d-tilt but he needs a good amount of space to do it (though I guess if they're on a plat you can just destroy it with an up air? But you could maybe time the release of the mine to catch them as they're trying to do that, idk)
