Saw the first couple episodes, does it get like WAAAAY better? I heard it was great and like there are a gazillion episodes, but I don't think i'll make it past episode 3 at this point. Got distracted by Malcolm in the middle being free on IMBD Freedive (along with Enders game and Boston legal).

I don't know if I'll go back and finish trying it or just forget about it and let it faaaade away.

I heard that One Piece gets better and better but honestly I found the beginning so boring that I dropped it immediately and never picked it back up.

Honestly didn't have a problem personally until the Alabasta Kingdom Arc, and it definitely gets better later on overall.

Well, maybe i'll give it a try every so often and eventually get into it. I gave up on Avatar even though people say it gets better later/more adult, it took too long for me.

I just don't have the patience to wait through stuff anymore, you gotta grab me or I move on.

It does become less goofy later on, but its been a really long time since I watched it so I couldn't tell you when. It is always somewhat goofy, its more Dragonball than DBZ or DBS. It is definitely shonen too, so if that isn't your thing you aren't going to like it no how far in you watch.

One Piece is okay. But it's extremely repetitive.

And the anime adaptation is awful.

I'm watching it on netflix, not sure if it's the anime adaption or what. I'll give it more of a shot, but yeah I'm more a DBZ or DBS fan than a Dragonball fan.

what turns me off with that anime is that some of the characters look so bad, and some are just so repulsive.

The newer dub is fine.

The problem is the anime itself. You're better off with the manga. The older episodes had good pacing but they're 20 years old now and haven't aged all that well in terms of animation. The newer episodes have better animation but the pacing is so bad that even if you haven't read the manga, you can tell when things are being dragged out for no reason.

There is a point where a show is dragging on... One Piece reached that point a long, long time ago.

Make no mistake, I applaud the imagination if its author, he really uses some nice concepts in his series, but Jesus it's been getting repetitive for a long time.

But when looking at the numbers, Dragon Ball still wins per volume.
One piece 470m/96 volumes 4.9m per volume
Dragon Ball 250m/42 volumes 5.9m per volume

Im excluding super just cause i cant find the info on that

And if you scale that for time period, since the population of EARTH was about 2 billion less when Dragon Ball came out... ya

To be honest? I've lost interest after the saving Ace part. One Piece sometimes manages to get something out which gets my interest, but it's so far and few between that... meh.

One Piece definently isn't everyone's cup of tea. The goofy art style, over-the-top characters, and sense of humor turn a lot of people off.
