Very excited to see this! The only thing that could possibly be better is if the Bloodborne rumors are true. But yeah I'm totally down with more RE7 style stuff. With how godly RE2 was (and RE3 too to a lesser extent) I feel like the itch for that sort of game is pretty thoroughly scratched. RE7 was great and the rumors about this one could push it in a very cool direction.

If I recall the rumor said it would be Ethan again which would be kind of weird to have the same character 2 games in a row

Although we've had the remakes of 2 and 3 since then so it doesn't really feel that 7 was the last game

Actually the rumors have been that the game started as Revelations 3 and got bumped up to 8 status. Also that there would be 3 main characters, with Ethan being one of them.

In the numbered timeline, Jill hasn't been seen since 5. Claire hasn't been seen since CVX!

Both 7 and the recent remakes lend themselves so much to cool appearances/plot developments in RE8 that I really hope they lean into. Like imagine if Nicholai showed up as an antagonist in the new mainline after the stuff he had going on in RE3make.

Its unfortunate that capcom wants Chris to be the main character, because hes just a boring guy. Its also unfortunate that Leon completely changes his personality every game he appears in, Claires and Ethans gimmick of being normal people stops working after one game, and Jill has the worst character arc ever in the fifth game.

At least we still have Ada, I guess.

The legitimately supernatural introducing itself suddenly is one of my biggest pet peeves in fiction but I trust Resident Evil enough to have any ghosts just be the result of magic mushrooms growing inside the protagonist's brain or some shit. Give a grounded explanation but go totally nuts with the visuals!

I think Zoe would make an interesting protagonist. Someone with experience surviving BOWs but not fighting them. Throw her back into a situation like the Baker plantation, only this time the enemies aren't content to toy with her, they want her dead. She's forced to fight back, and as she gradually gets to grips with combat, starts to wonder if hiding was the right choice all those years ago. She can fight now- if she'd fought then, could she have stopped the madness? Could she have saved everyone?
