4 had a few weak episodes but also had some of the best episodes. 1, 5, and 8 in particular were gold while the whole 2nd half was great. Hell S4 might be my favorite season after I get some rewatches in.

I thought it was funny but I like when episodes follow a narrative. It was all random wacky adventures then the last episode it circled back to season 2

I liked the 1st, 5th, 8th and 10th episode. I just wish that (EPISODE 10 SPOILER)wish they didn't kill Tammy. I would've liked a recurring villain.

i actually thought it was pretty good, and imo, it knew it was trying hard, and knew it was the shtick, and rolled with it pretty fluidly. it all fit rather comfortably, i liked it.

Part 1 was just okay, but the second half was great.

Vat of Acid is a top tier episode, and I loved the finale.

The only outright bad one was the dragon one.

Disagree. Fantastic season. On rewatches it might rank higher. Dragons episode was just one joke, so it was lame, but vat of acid was a mindfuckingly fantastic episode. Last second half was just pure comedy. It's not just the jokes; the background jokes were aplenty and animations were the best in the series.

Heist episode sucked, Dragon Episode and Rick had sex with a planet were okay. The toilet episode was a great Rick plot dragged down by a mediocre B-plot and a terrible C-plot.
Rickdie Rickpeat, Rattlestar Ricklactica(snakes!), The Vat of Acid Episode, and Star Mort: Rickturn of the Jerri were all phenomenal episodes. Everything I didn't mention was good.

Oh, I'm not saying it was bad. That's a fantastic one-liner, there's that one scene where Rick finds Summer and Morty after they crash into the Zeus's head that's gold, and the post-credits stinger is goddamned hilarious.

Thanks for reminded me about the second part. I forgot about it.

Wasn't really a fan of the Dragon one. The train one got way too high on being "meta" and I hated the long musical sequence from Morty's save button one. The last part of the finale got on my nerves too, everything we get about Rick being nihilistic is starting to wear thin. We get it, when it comes to him "nothing matters". But you can't tell me people didn't want to know the answer to that question they went "not even Rick knows, because fuck it."

I haven't bothered watching season 4 yet, because i haven't been bothered to keep up since season 3 ended. Is it still going to be like another 2 years until season 5?

I liked it more than season 3. Legit, season 4 was head and shoulders above season 3.

I would honestly prefer if the show cut all the plot stuff out and just had standalone adventures. I spent too long hanging on for the plot stuff in season 3 and I had a really bad reaction to it all because of that. Pickle Rick was an okay episode, but it did not deserve to turn into the phenomenon it did.

Meanwhile, as far as tropey cliche storm episodes go where they pastiche stuff, I liked the story train more than I liked the superhero episode. And I didn't mind the superhero episode, I actually liked all the characters in that episode, but the formula becomes really obvious really quickly. The story train episode kept me on my toes a bit, even with a gag or two that went on for too long.

I dunno, I feel like season 4 was more madcap and spontaneous than season 3, and I enjoyed the sheer chaos of it. Season 3 was a pale shadow of season 2, which some people regard as a weaker season 1. Season 4 was an improvement imo.

I'm sort of torn on how they nerfed Rick's fighting abilities. I liked it when he had some sci-fi countermeasure for anything, like a drunk, futuristic Batman. But then like in the last episode he just gets into a fistfight with Zeus, loses, and gives up.

Oh, the Ocean's Eleven ep.... It was so dumb and convoluted. I get that that was the point of the joke but that didn't really make it entertaining. Maybe I'd be more entertained if I'd actually watched a heist movie.

I didn't like it. Rick was always a horrible asshole but I could deal with it, the rest of the cast were always my favorite. But this time he seemed like his assholeiness went up to ten fold, and he always came out on time. It was just not for me dog.

What? Rick was beat by Jerry a couple times this season. Lost to PP and Zeus. His family no longer reliant on him as they were. He was beat down all season. Morty becoming competent on his own.

Sure you were watching season 4?

I think the fact that he and Zeus were just awkwardly punching each other in spite of the fact they both clearly have much more efficient means of fighting was meant to be a joke. It was meant to be stupid and awkward, but it didn't land with me.

The Phoenix Person fight was freaking awesome though, and he legit had a Rick-like arsenal. That laser battery was just more than Rick had the tools (on hand) to handle. The important thing to remember with Rick is, that, as powerful as he is, he's also lazy and overconfident.

To be fair...
The series takes place in a multiverse with clone technology, and the ability to make dead characters return like Cyborg Phoenixperson. And there must be some alternative universes where she didnt die.

That wasn't the point though. The point was that he's an awful dad. His daughter asked him to do this one thing for her and he refused to take responsibility for it. There's also zero difference between "real" Beth and clone Beth, so the answer is kind of unimportant anyway.

Agreed on both counts. I think the idea was that these are two gods (kinda) fighting, but they fight the exact same way two regular middle-aged dudes in a trailer park would fight in that situation. I didn't find it funny, but I think I got what they were going for.
