Ive only played the original FF7 and Im currently on chapter 16 in the remake (So please use spoiler tags if its anything about the ending or thoughts on the ending). I also played a little bit of FF6 on my phone, but I stopped early on because the mobile controls just piss me off and hurt my hands.

Ive noticed that these games are on sale on PSN and thought that I should play one after Im done with FF7R.

how would you rate these games listed?

FF9 and FFXV are both fun imo

9 takes a minute to load battles and has a high encounter rate, plus the main character looks like a girl, it sucks

Just get Tactics, it's the best.

Yeah 9 feels like a love letter to the series. There's a little bit of everything that came before while still managing to be its own thing.

Final Fantasy X is highly recommended. X-2 wasn't that bad too.

Probably another vote for 9. 8 was really an oddball for the series as far as mechanics go, and I sorta got out of RPG's before playing anything after FFX.

9 or 10. I hear good things about 12. Is 12 on switch the superior version?

VIII > X > XII > IX > X-2 > T-0 > XV would be my ordering of the lot.

Overall id suggest X though. While VIII is my favorite its a bit divisive. X is generally liked however and while a good number seem to dislike most things about X-2 its gameplay is usually praised. Plus 2 (arguably 3 depending on how you feel about Last Mission) games in one all of which have a different battle system so theres variety to consider.

From that list? Final Fantasy IX. The port is lazy, and I hate the font, but the core game is still fun.

Kind of off topic, but i just started playing the PSP port of FF3 and holy fuck is it crippled by slow ass battles and an insane encounter rate.

I dont think any of those are available on PS4 store though.

im thinking of buying FFX & 9 and playing X first then. Since theyre both about 10$ on PSN.

yeah everyone always gripes about the mechanics of the game which is fair because theyre pretty much broken, but it really cant be understated how lousy all the characters are in that game

X - Cherished by alot, one of the best FF storywise, pretty good combat

IX - Very adventure. Tries to be more traditional. pretty good combat

VIII - Wack, decisive, but still good. Would recommend if you'd like min-max to break game systems, and value character development.

IX has charm but isn't for everyone. X has blaring flaws but is the best of the lot listed. Type-0 is a distant third, and such a downer.

I've only played up to FFX-2, and out of the list, I only liked 8 and 9.

Nine is great. It's the game that go me into RPGs. Likable characters, traditional turn based battles, four man party and lots of nods to past FF games.

Everything above VI is sub-par at best.
