We probably have too much volume to do this now, but isolating infected people who don't live at home in, e.g., converted hotels is probably a very good idea (and is quite possibly a significant component of the success of Asian countries' responses):

https://www.vox.com/2020/4/28/21238456/centralized-isolation-coronavirus-hong-kong-korea

You could even make it voluntary; I'm guessing a pretty high fraction of people would do so to protect the people they live with.
Disagree. A lot of talk of whether viral load leads to more significant symptoms.

Unless you mean like homeless people themselves. In which case, I believe states have alrdy been doing this

in the sense that there's a better idea of what we're facing, sure.
also in the sense that hospitals and medicine should be getting topped off with the ability to rapidly get more if need be, meaning the biggest crisis - the collapse of the healthcare system - is likely over.

the big issue realistically is just the infection rate. like mortality and hospitalizations may be significantly lower than expected but why, i don't know. turns out that yeah, it actually does resemble the flu on these numbers far, far more than not. also turns out it's far more contagious so even if the % is similar the raw numbers are gonna be significant.

2 antibody tests were deemed extremely reliable. One had one false positive out of 108 samples. The other had 0.

Having less than 2% false positives is considered reliable.

https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/coronavirus-numbers-new-cases-2020-n1157271

So anyways, if you look at the daily chart of confirmed cases. You see the major leak around April 10th ish. A small subside then another twin peak like a week later.

We are likely at the first peak right now for those in severe and critical right now. We know usually around 2-3 weeks is when things degrade to the point of ICUs normally.

It is possible we are at the second twin peak, but it is likelier the the first. Which begs to question how in the world the covid projections had our peak deaths at like 2 weeks ago.

Of course this leaves out testing capabilities coming online and catching cases that would have come back on earlier. If the death peak remains accurate then we know that these confirmed cases charts are pointless because it just lacks a lot of cases due to under testing.

"Wear a mask" to too many people either means fashion accessory or a mask has to be somewhere on my head.

The general public simply does not understand how to use, wear, and dispose of a mask. And it's not really their fault because there's never been a need and no one ever taught them.

The way most people are using them makes them essentially useless. But people don't understand that and then think they're invincible and don't have to care as much about social distancing because "I'm wearing a mask".

With so few samples you can't reliably say that the rate is that low. If the first test actually did have a false positive rate of 2%, for example, and you checked 108 known negatives, you would have a 36% chance of finding only 0 or 1 false positive.

1. It was said "white supremacist".
2. He said all the reopening protests were "white supremacists rallies".

I don't think you are in the stratosphere of arguing the same thing here.

If hundreds of women's Marchs happen and a white supremacist women's march happens also.

Yeah, I think calling the womens marches white supremacist rallies are hella a mislabel and purposeful misinformation. And, pointing to a rally to say look at it! Totally white supremacists to talk about the whole is ridiculous.

Yeah.

Ignore the sensationalist CNN headline to spread fear for the click.

https://www.bing.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/04/28/health/coronavirus-antibody-tests-terrible/index.html

A lot of the tests are unreliable. And it is why I said to know what test you are using. However the Sinai one did well (and CNN conveniently doesn't name the one that did the best).

These of course aren't the supposedly more reliable Roche and Abbott tests either.

So, grain of salt, but to dismiss all antibody tests outright as unreliable when we see some good results isn't a good idea.

To clarify my opinion isn't that they all suck or are useless; it's just that even the best ones appear to have a false positive rate that isn't negligible for many of the purposes for which people want to use them (like finding out population-wide prevalence, or determining if someone who has never had symptoms is immune). And that's basically just a result of conditional probability: unless the false positive rate is significantly lower than the fraction of the population that's actually had the disease, a very significant fraction of the positives you see will be false positives, even if the absolute rate of false positives is something you would think of as low.
