I have 6 cats and 5 dogs. My cats dont toy around with the prey they catch, they just kill them and carry them around once theyre dead.

I love animals too, but there are certain thresholds that when crossed cease what compassion I would have - and a wild mouse causing issues in my home and living space is one of said thresholds.

1. Why the fuck is a shovel inside your dwelling?
2. Are you not worried about breaking shit?
3. Is there really no more effective weapon than a shovel around? Like, have you considered a fly swatter or bug spray to kill a wasp instead of a what the fuck shovel?
4. How the fuck does anyone even arrive at the conclusion that a shovel is an appropriate weapon?

I just read the first 10-15 posts or so, and I have these points:

1 - that story was fuckin funny as shit

2 - what's up with all the rodent apologists? Like, I get it, if you want a mouse as a pet, have one. But don't shit on people who don't want one.

3 - I saw one comment mentioning if TC vacuumed more frequently, he wouldn't have the problem. That is not necessarily true. I'm more or less a clean freak, and I still briefly ended up with a pair of my own rodents over the winter.

4 - screw rodents. The last three I have gotten rid of, I used your traps. One of them was subsequently smashed with a work boot, another was smashed with the end of an unused mop attachment, and I'm pretty sure the third one I just stuck into my trash can while still attached to the glue trap *shrug*

1. The shovel is not inside our dwelling. Its in the garage.
2. No, were not worried about breaking anything. Were not savages lol. We know how to be careful with tools.
3. We dont kill insects with shovels like that other user.
4. Shovels have reach and can cover a bit of area with the flat portion. Rodents are fast so you need something to counter the speed with. Small and shorter weapons means youll have to get real close in order to kill and good luck being fast enough for that. We also use long poles sometimes as well. Less of a mess.

They watched Modern Family and saw that chopping off a Rat/Mouse head with a shovel and leaving it outside is a way to send a message to the other rodents

It was a wasp outside in my courtyard. I was already holding the shovel and I swung it at the wasp and cut it in half in mid air and I felt like a samurai.

I own one of the more powerful shop vacs that Home Depot sells. Theres a pretty good chance that mouse is still alive. Even if not, now youve got a rotten corpse decomposing in your vacuum. I strongly recommend getting rid of that unless you want the room to smell like dead mouse every time you turn the vacuum on.

When I was little I saw my WWII grandfather corner and smack a rat dead with his bare hand. Then he picked it up and through it out in the yard.

That was back when men were men.

That's a good way to get rabies from a rat bite

Hell, i'm a liberal millennial and I probably would have reacted the same way as them...until I actually had a rodent problem in my house. Now I fucking hate the little shits and any one I find in my house is getting destroyed in whichever way is most convienent.
