It also depends on how much money we are talking. Mega millions? I've just won 400 million in my pocket? Yeah... I'd do the above thing first.

I'll tell no one. No. One. Pay all my bills then slowly let it in on my closest family members. I'll split it fairly then split. Only my closest family will know where I'm at. I'll buy a couple of houses away from prying eyes/ears. I'm not a big social media person so all of that is getting terminated.

nothing exciting though

there's this big lakeside mansion in town I'd like to live in if I were rich enough, maybe get that if the lotto is big enough

Get a trust going, hopefully have them claim it. Figure out how to best invest/bank the assets. Rather than give people blanket amounts of money, I'd set up a credit card account with family members on it after setting them up with all other major purchases.

This. My dumb ass would put all those zeroes into my normal savings account like I just got a biweekly check when in reality investing is absolutely ideal.

Immediately contact my financial planner. Have him advise me on making sure the taxes are paid off and planning for any fees I face in the future.

My initial goal is to give half to my sister and her family. They'll need it far more than I will.

I'll make sure my parents know about it so if anyone in the family needs any assistance they can offer rather than me doing it. They keep up with my family more as it is.

I don't see myself quitting my job. I do enjoy it and I'm certainly not in it for the money. I can't imagine moving to another place either, given the relative lack of space my life takes up.

There are also going to be some charitable donations made to those of my choice.

Still being single, I'll definitely balk at making my wealth known to any prospective companions.

If I have to deal with people finding out and coming asking, I'll deal with it.

-Pay off current home...rent it out.

-Buy a couple of homes around the U.S. One in Miami, One in San Diego, a penthouse in NYC which would be my main residence. Maybe also a beach house down by the Jersey Shore. Depends how much I won obviously. Hundreds of millions and it's lit.

-Buy a couple of cars...probably one Lambo and one Porsche. Then two or three "everyday" cars like a BMW 7 series and a nice Land Rover SUV.

-And then just put the rest in investments/savings and chill.

-Probably open up a comic book store in a nice downtown and run that to pass the time.

keep it as secret as possible, donate down to around 5-10 million dollars depending on how much I won and continue to live like I do now, just worry a lot less about work and pursue less lucrative but more rewarding things.

Buy a house. No more rent. No more random home inspections. No more renters insurance.

Next, I wouldnt tell a soul. People treat you differently when they find out you have money and time. I would tell my immediate family because theyre not the type of people to go around telling everyone and I would want to share it with them.

Depends on how much. Last time I thought about this was a few years ago when the jackpot was 1.6 Billion.

Right off the bat I would donate half to charity.
Make large donations to local hospitals and businesses.
Pay off my house and other bills.
Pay off houses of some friends and family.
Buy some property.
Set up a modest retirement amount and college money for the kids.
Donate some more.

If it was just like a million then donate, bills, kids, and help who I could.
