The Bengals were down by 16 with 30 seconds on the clock, if my calculations are correct. That game is now going to OT.

Just saw this. That's almost inconceivable ineptitude.

I don't have a dog in the fight and most OT rules are stupid but I continue to hate the TD on the 1st possession ends OT rule. There's zero reason the opponent shouldn't get a chance to match

Kenyan Drake has put my team all the way onto his back in the last two weeks. The fantasy title is now within reach. Possibly my greatest late season waiver add of all time.

The one run just put me from 75% to 90% on the projection.

this used to be the complaint before when any score ended the game and how it was unfair if a FG ended the game

always moving the goalposts

I feel like if your defense can't keep them out of the endzone on one drive then you deserve to lose

Disagree. Why is the offense getting favored? Can you imagine if they said the defending team wins if the defense stops them on the first possession? It's no different.

Nah, it's completely different. Scoring a TD in a single drive is much more difficult than forcing a punt or a 4th down stop.

When you are going to OT in a game that ends 35-35 I would argue that it is far harder for a team to get a stop than to get a TD.

NCAA OT is also stupid but thats more controversial

Just do regulation ties

this is why shortening OT to 10 minutes was a bad decision

I'm fine with regulation ties for what it's worth

Removing phases of the game to get a result is garbage and that's what a TD on the first possession does. If both teams have awful defenses or really good offenses then saying you should just get a stop doesn't fly for me.

Still projected to win my championship game but getting a little uneasy now as I have left so many points on the bench (Drake, Woods, Boyd) and I have this sinking feeling starters aren't going to do anything. I have Elliot, Ekeler and Sutton out there against only Cobb and I'm 18 points behind. I really want to be at least even by the time these games are over.

So if the Jags lose next week (and who am I kidding? We will!) that means if the Steelers and Titans both lose, then the Steelers make the playoffs. Whereas if we win, the Titans would make the playoffs. That makes me feel a little better!

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure at least some people thought the OT change at first was also dumb, it was just less dumb than the previous rules so we took what we could get.

I'm with shattered here, the current ot rules do not make for a fair game.

This is the ideal fantasy team. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

Crazy to think I'm winning a title with what should be an awful team that had zero absolute studs and legitimately no consistency from any player. Every single guy had multiple dud performances this year.

I am currently projected to lose by 4.1 points.

The other dude got a +5 headstart due to higher playoff seeding. We have the same record and I have more points scored ( which is the tiebreaker) so I should have been the higher seed.

I have already told the GM I will be furious if I lose by less than 10 points.

Hopefully it sorts itself out and either I win or I lose by more than 10 so it wasn't a factor.

1. The Raiders (7-8) are improbably still eligible for the playoffs. It's not impossible that they get in either. Oakland needed nine things to break its way in the final two weeks of the season. Five happened Sunday, requiring four specific outcomes in Week 17: Raiders over Broncos, Texans over Titans, Ravens over Steelers and Colts over Jaguars. It would create a four-team cluster with 8-8 records, and Oakland would prevail thanks to its Week 4 win over the Colts and a superior strength of victory percentage than the Steelers.

Seems improbable though.

Ok I checked a more reputable site for lines (one where you can actually place wagers). ESPN has fucked up early lines before

TEN -4
DEN -3.5
IND -3
No line yet for BAL/PIT

Dolphins lose next week

i assume that's due to strength of victory; Raiders beat the Bears and Steelers beat the Dolphins

ESPN has the early lines

OAK -3.5
BAL -2.5
HOU -1
IND -1

So three are favored just not by much
i'm actually really surprised the Raiders are favored. i can't see that holding up by game day. also figured Colts would be favored by more than that.
