The settlers (who didn't call themselves pilgrims) were bad people.
The meal was to celebrate the murder of a chief's son.
The holiday became popular because Asians and Jews immigrated to the US and white gentile male protestants waxed nostalgic about the good ol' days before immigrants.
George Washington (who had slaves) made it a national holiday.

We get it. It's bad.

Do we replace it with another holiday or do we have a Happy "Get Back to Work in the Name of Progress" Day?

And also turkey is a shitty meat and dying in a gutter is better than eating it.

I worked at a native owned casino for many years, I originally thought Thanksgiving would be awkward as hell but they all celebrated it just fine.

however we did get holiday pay on the anniversary of General Custer being killed lmao

Modern people have their own reasons for celebrating holidays. Never once have I heard the deaths of Native Americans brought up at Thanksgiving dinner.

Fuck it. There shouldn't be any holidays. Everyone should just work 5 days a week for the whole year.

If I've learned anything over my life with regards to Thanksgiving it's that you shouldn't let past experiences/events (especially ones that nobody alive today has any responsibility for) ruin the day for you. I had some bad Thanksgivings when I was young but I don't let those bother me. I don't even like the white meat of a carved turkey but I still enjoy the football and the traditions of my own that I made for the day/week. On Thanksgiving week I watch movies that either deal with the holiday, are Turkish, a turkey, or feature a character that can be called a turkey.

Besides the Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims wasn't even the first one. Not to mention most cultures have a harvest festival of some kind. If you don't want to celebrate Thanksgiving then just don't.
