Same, except in Pokemon Go where they appear all over the place.

I've played every single gen and never saw a shiny save for the red Gyarados of course.

I found 4 over 20 years I think. 2 in soul silver, one in platinum and one in ultra sun. 2 of those 4 were zubat, one poliwag and one golden.

I found some in Gold (Geodude, Mareep and Bellsprout among others IIRC), since I played it a *lot*. I know I found at least one in later gens, but I don't remember what Pokemon. Also got Pokerus for the first and only time in Gold. I panicked slightly since I didn't even know it existed at that point.

I got a purple Drowzee in Gols version. I think it thought somehow it was a ditto stuck in Drowzee mode because they are both in the same area.

Off the top of my head, I caught a shiny piloswine, loudred, finneon, and two shiny magikarp. Shiny magikarp is the least impressive shiny cuz if you evolve it into its useful stage, it just becomes the shiny that everyone has. I also reset for a shiny kyogre in HG and I have several event shinies.

You should inevitably come across a few of them if you play long enough, especially with gen 6 onwards where the chances were doubled.

I got the Red Gyrados back in Silver and Gold.
Then there was a trick where you transfer the Gyrados back to Red or Blue and go to the bush or Viridian City or something, you can get a shiny blue Ditto when trading back to Silver and Gold. So that was number 2

I didn't actually catch one in the wild until Pokemon X and Y. Got a shiny Mime Jr that became a green Mr. Mime and a Poilwag that became a cotton candy Politoed.

Iirc I have 13 random ones, and like 700 from pokeradar/chaining/fishing/sis and such.

Let's see, first was wingull, then Ponyta, ralts, Nidorino, teddiursa, chatot... Uh, I don't remember the rest. I had a list of which were the random ones at some point.

Also found and lost a shiny Rhyhorn, and shiny venomoth in the Safari zone a couple of encounters apart. Got pretty frustrated and left then later that day was when I found the Ponyta too. It has the run away ability as a reminder. Still unsure if that was a lucky day or not.

It took me less than an hour maybe even half an hour to soft reset for shiny Type:Null in Ultra Moon. Full 4000 odds too since shiny charm doesnt work

I also got a shiny 5iv Adamant Beldum with the Masuda Method iiiiin Whjte I think it was. No shiny charm here either

Also got some other random ones i dont have anymore like Drowzee and Meowth. All my others are from MT, Wonder Trade or anything that drastically inceases odds =/

Granted, I might've encountered some as a kid in RBY but just didn't realize. But I distinctly remember looking for them by the time Gen 3 came around, and never found any until Gen 5.

I've played a few thousand hours of Pokemon. Got a shiny Zapdos in leaf green, and a shiny flabebe from breeding in Y. That's it. The Zapdos was a real surprise and my prized Pokemon. Even had a very usable bold nature. The flabebe also is bold funnily enough. I really don't understand how people can get so many from regular gameplay.

No. In generation 2 when they first introduced they would usually have worse stats because of how the game determined a Pokmon would be shiny IIRC

I've had a couple. One was a litwick back in ORAS I believe that i got after getting a wondertraded final evo that had several good EVs and I was trying to bread a 5 IV male litwick to then breed with something else. Dunno. Wasn't going for shiny so that was nice.

I saw a shiny rattata in my last playthrough of ultra sun but it was before I got to the point where I could catch so that was anti climatic.

There was another one a ways back, can't remember what, that I didn't catch because of a misclick.

One of my favorite speedrun moments is when Werster encounters the Wally shiny. Id link it but I cant really do that with videos at work

In gen 6 onward (without chain fishing mechanics or shiny charm) I believe it is 1 in 4000?

I'm in your boat in terms of having never found a true, non-chained shiny (i.e. one that just appeared out of the blue)

The only shinies I've gotten are a Dragalge from chain-fishing for one, and a shiny Psyduck when I was hoard-battling for EVs in gen 6.

Did it remain shiny throughout the remainder of his run? Like every time he fought wally, would it still be shiny?
