...but they made at least $21 billion.

"we have to crack down on password sharing because we're losing money :(" - bitch you're making billions of dollars in the first place. Fuck off.

Netflix will be dead once they lose their streaming rights for stuff like Friends and The Office

That's literally like 10% of what they made.

Friends is a terrible show. The office hit its high point when Jim and Pam got married then dropped.

Yes, but they're a corporation, so by definition they won't be happy until they have all the money in the universe.

$2B is alot

$21B is so much more, though. I'm not going to cry because a corporation didn't make an extra two billion dollars after they managed to squirrel away 10x that amount.

Maybe so, but you would think that a business could be happy with twenty billion dollars. That's $20,000,000,000 - that's more money than most people are ever going to see in their life. And yes, 2 billion is $2,000,000,000 - but that's $2 billion extra profit they would have gotten on top of $20,000,000,000. That's already an obscene amount of money.

Investors are making their money back in spades. You can fart around with percentages, but the net profit is still obscenely high - even in comparison to the projected $2 billion they didn't get from password sharing. And I'm not calling that a loss, because it's an estimate of how much profit they would have made on top of what they already got. They didn't lose shit, they're just butthurt that they didn't make more filthy lucre than they already did.

And yet they didn't lose a single cent of their money. They're guessing that $2 billion worth of subscriptions were "stolen" or circumvented because of password sharing, with no proof that $2 billion worth of individual subscriptions would have sprung up if those people didn't have access to a Netflix account.

Netflix didn't lose shit. They made a massive net gain, and they're crying because they didn't make even more excess profit. It's disgusting.

I assume he's talking about gross. But you're both wrong. They grossed a bit less than 19B and netted around 1.2B

I have an account I share with my dad. I pay for it, let him use it as well.

If they cracked down I'd honestly probably cancel my subscription. To me it is similar to saying I can't loan a game to my friend to play.

I agree. I use my moms netflix and I let her use my hbo.

I dont really watch either that much so if they put a stop to sharing I'd probably just cancel and go back to just torrenting the one show I care about watching
