So I haven't been keeping up with this film. I have no idea how well known this spoiler is, but....

They actually kill off John just to replace him with a woman. Like 90% of the movie's backstory is clumsily crafted just to make that happen. Cause the future may be apocalyptic, but it's still woke.

The leaks have been out since July at least, but the fact that John Connor hasn't shown up in absolutely any promotional material for the film should have been a big fucking clue that he wasn't going to show up.

And why else wouldn't the savior of humanity show up? Why would the Terminators not be targeting him?

No more Cyberdyne, Skynet or T-800s. John Connor and Kyle Reese are rendered irrelevant.

Just left with PTSD Dora the Explorer and a geriatric Sarah Connor.

The future's bright, because the bullshit is dazzling.

Why couldn't they have just continued with The Sarah Connor Chronicles... that was getting really good. Shirley Manson was chewing up scenery with glee, Summer Glau was doing a really good performance as Allison and they were having fun with future and current era events.

What I've heard so far is its fun. Better than 3 by miles, nowhere near 1 or 2.

Killing him off is better than turning him into a Terminator, I guess.

It seems pretty pointless though to kill off an established character just to replace them with a more diverse counterpart. The women who star in the film could go around bashing machines and tell their own story without having to kill him off.

It ended after T2. Nothing else past that matters and is expensive fanfiction.

In genysis, they basically turned John into a bad guy so it was already in play for a new savior. But honestly there really isnt anything more they can do with the series. The fun behind T2 was not only the action, but the mystery of trying to solve what the hell was really going on. Once that mystery was gone, the series turned into a generic one.

What's funny is James Cameron criticised that movie for unceremoniously killing off Hicks and Newt in the beginning making the events of Aliens feel pointless, but he's okay with John Connor having the same fate.

The funny thing about this is that Sarah Assumed the new girl they were chasing was just going to be the mother of the MAN who was the leader, the big twist was that it was the girl all this time. So people who act like there wasn't as message here know that there was meant to be a message here. Note if you freak out about the message that is a different thing, but at least be honest .

Also for those who don't know they stop judgement day. Yet the next AI that takes over acts just like Skynet. And Robots even look close to same with the same idea to go back in time. Also the lady cyborg is just an asshole to Sara for half of the movie to no reason.

Look forward to the next Terminator not-really-a-reboot film where fluctuations caused by sending Terminators back in the time stream have caused an alteration that doesn't need to make sense - John Connor has been born Jane Connor. Watch Arnold try to hunt down Jane Connor in yet another Terminator movie because this time, the future is female!

It's a serious plot hole. T2 changed the future, not filling John. Which means that everything past Arnold's thumbs up in T2 is a new branch of the timeline. That means John being on that beach three years later is part of the new timeline. So how the fuck did Skynet from the old timeline know that John was going to be on that beach in the new timeline? It couldn't. But even if Skynet could calculate multiple realities, killing John at that point would make no sense because Skynet would still be wiped from existence. So there would be absolutely nothing to gain from killing John.

I guess you could assume that particular T800 was just walking around for 3 to 15 years looking for John. But that's a hard pill to swallow. Look at the damage the first terminator caused in one night. Sarah didn't see that thing coming after YEARS on the rampage? And don't even get me started on that T800 having a change of heart just because he fulfilled his mission. The second T800 had to be reprogrammed by the resistance. This one just decided to be nice. Skynet didn't give any Terminators any secondary objectives? Like, I don't know, keep itself from being erased out of existence?
