My principles are a little different, in that if the host allows a character in, that character is fair game. There's a reason I am so strict with what's considered an RPG in Save My RPG.

Apparently I have been misspelling a character's name in my first post, and for that I apologize. But not really since that game has nearly every character's last name changed through translation at some point. No regrets.

I also assume Genny typed it that was since that's the way I verbally pronounce it IRL.

I mean the thing for me has always been that they're class names. Link is not just called "Hylian" or something else. Final Fantasy is a class oriented game and the first game's playables are just the class names that would later be used to describe various other characters with actual names and personalities.

It's just my personal feelings about it. I used to want them removed from this because they are just not characters in the same way as the rest of the field is; Final Fantasy is also not Legend of Zelda, the protagonists of all the games sans the first one have very distinct personalities that you can like or hate. The first game basically is more like a D&D style adventure game you can make up stories about the characters yourself, since they are only identified as classes. I'm content with them at this stage, maybe because I'm just older and care less but possibly because I at least view them as part of the Final Fantasy series and I have something else that's allowed to push harder at now.

I mean as you can see, Square backed off from even naming the Warrior of Light in Dissidia, though he is now a character since he has a personality and isn't just a blank slate for you to put a name/personality into as you wish.

In the Final Fantasy manga, the red mage in it was called Puffy. Obviously that isn't really a canon source but maybe it is since Bravely Default is Final Fantasy. Certainly the manga adaption of the first game is more credible than a non-FF game is.

You know upon thinking about it my ideal RPG character I like to play in WRPGs and Tabletops are Spellswords and Mage Knights. (What Red Mages are)

i know you cant be as good at both without specializing but you still get the awesomeness of both worlds!

Link you can actually notice things about his character and personality based on interactions, reactions from other characters, etc.

Red Mage is a class you can assign to any (or all) of the 4 Heroes of Light... and none of them have much going for them as is!

If LoZ 1 never got sequels and that was the only Link we had, it would be close to the same. Since like LttP or OoT Link has been an actual character though

I second this motion. Especially since it allows for Chrono Trigger characters as well.

Chrono Trigger characters were disallowed when I suggested they be eligible due to the game being in the Final Fantasy Chronicles compilation.
