You can't even write a synopsis that doesn't make the primary issue painfully obvious.

Episode 1: Trade politics
Episode 2: A war is brewing
Episode 3: The master plan coup detat
Episode 4: Death Star
Episode 5: Secrets surfacing
Episode 6: Sinister plot to convert the hero
Episode 7: Great lengths taken to kill one absurdly powerful foe
Episode 8: So the heroes are running out of gas...

It was about average for a Star Wars movie. So it was a below average movie overall.

It's okay. Some good stuff, some bad. Overall kind of inconsistent. The internet's impotent frothing hate boner for is both hilarious and infuriating. People literally think it's worse than the prequels and that it's some kind of deathblow for the franchise. If that is your opinion you are literally a joke; get over yourself and find something else to do with your life.

How about this one. Finn and Rose. Everything about them is just horrible. Finn gets knocked into a coma at the end of the last movie.. and we cut to him in this one and he has 3 pratfalls right when he gets up. Then walks around naked in a leaking bubble .

Now compare his recovery to the Kylos.

From here Finn tries to leave in order to save Rey. The one he loves. Rose stops him by tazing him and this is played as a joke. But Finn can't leave because he can't do anything thing.

Let's review. Finn escape being kidnapped, just to be thrown into fighting the baddest man in the universe, gets cut up and knocked into a Coma then it is played as joke when he is tazed.

He is roped into the going on to another mission after Poe calls Maz. Because Finn can't do anything. He was the one who met her in the last movie. But RJ must have forgotten that. Maz gives them a hair brain plan. And some how they can speak with each other but other communication is down.

They go to a casino world. Were Rose teaches the former Trooper about the war profiteers because Finn can't do anything. Even speaking about arms.

He is tazed once more for comedy. To be locked up in a jail cell with someone who just happens to the have the skill that Maz said only one other person has .

Finn finds out both sides buy from the same people and some how this makes him MORE dedicated to the hero's cause.

The person who Finn and Rose Trusted sold them out, and Finn had scene where he stands up to Phasma and beats her one on one. But that was cut, to have Finn beat up getting knocked down the hold only for magic to bring him back up and get cheap shot victory . Yeah he does one thing in the most Jar Jar way possible .

The heroes are pinned down and Finn is going to risk his life to save everyone. Music was playing you could feel the weight of what he was about to do. But Finn can't do anything so Rose some how crashes into him at full speed. Saying we don't win by killing what we hate but by saving what we love. The fucking thing that he tried to do at the start .

It convinced me wholeheartedly that I should pirate every Star Wars movie that comes out afterwards, instead of paying for them like I used to.

Honestly at 1st I thought it was average. After one viewing I realized the plot didn't really move forward.

After reading all the complaints and a user here on the movie board posted a pretty good summary of what was wrong with the movie and he was right. Its unfortunate how much damage that movie caused.

Not as bad as BvS but close.

Yeah the premise was so fucking stupid.

"We can't catch them. Our ship is bigger so it's slower. Don't worry though, they'll run out of gas so they'll come to dead fucking stop once they run out because that's how physics in space works"

I get it's a sci-fi and you're supposed to have a suspension of disbelief with these things. However, when the plot of the entire film revolves around that, it's hard to ignore. Especially when that's the reason Holdo's shitty plan is what the movie centers in on for the sake of drama.

When I saw that scene at first, I was very surprised that they'd deal with Carrie Fisher's irl death that way, and I deemed it 'a gutsy decision, seems a mite controversial but let's see how the movie unfolds that out.'

'Course, soon afterwards I had to put effort to keep myself from laughing out loud in the theater at what was happening to her as the person behind me was heard muttering 'I've seen some stupid s***, but this probably takes the cake.'

As much crap as I give TLJ, I believe it does have it's moments. There's a lot of great scenes. You wanna defend the Throne Room? Who wouldn't! Hyperspace Kamikaze? Dope. Walker Assault on Crait? Pretty fuckin neat-o. That Leia one though? Wut?
