I like how the magic users can actually be competent in physical classes too. I reclassed Lysithea into a Thief as her first Intermediate class because it gave some bonus points, and she can totally make it work thanks to her magic-based Soulblade art.

I guess that was already a thing in past games with the magic weapons like Levin Sword, but the arts feel more flexible since they can be used with any weapon of their type. I hope there's stronger ones unlocked at higher ranks.

Does anybody else find the tea party a total crapshoot? I've had one perfect session and the rest have all been pretty terrible. Is just a matter of knowing somebody's personality or is there something more to it one been missing?

Male only. Will need two of them if you want both Dark Seal exclusive the classes, since the intermediate level class is required for the advanced.

Personality is the main thing. Like when I was trying to woo over Felix, just picking all the options that had to do with fighting or training or strategy was generally the way to go. Sometimes the one that seems right is still wrong, though. Leonie said she likes to cook in one of her supports, but choosing the cooking related choice during a tea party was a bust.

A+ game so far on blue lions route. I was initially pretty interested in recruiting lots of students, but honestly there just doesn't seem to be enough slots to utilize them.

I am curious if I'm going to be hurting my enjoyment in Act 2, if having these extra students means I won't be facing them on the battlefield and seeing their stories play out as intended. I have no idea how it's going to be handled.

Honestly? Same. Every house seems to have a pretty good cast, and after recruiting some of the profs it just seems unnecessary to recruit many students. I'm sure it would be more helpful if I had students die, but other than that possibility I feel like there's barely enough time to manage the few characters that I do have.

Do you have to do anything to recruit the profs or do they just join as the story progresses?

I think I'm on like chapter 7 and the profs suddenly had a Recruit option and they were already ready to join upon request

Once you hit a certain level they can join you, i think? If i had to guess it's probably level 15.

Well then either she has something specifically against the Empire you only find out in her later plot or she's involved in the Black Eagles plot in some way.

Or its totally random and just a weird ass thing.

The Black Eagles can recruit her too, just not until the last month before the skip for some reason. Even though you can't interact before then, I imagine you can still raise support by sharing meals or choosing her for choir practice or other things.

So I got a rusted bow that's supposed to turn into some named bow when forged, but now I don't see it in my inventory anywhere. Uh, I guess I must've discarded it when I thought I was sending it to the convoy, so that sucks.

Rusted weapons are practically everywhere in that pink swirl stuff in battles, I have like 5 of each. Are those teally good for something?

I think there's two kinds of rusted weapons. Ones that just turn into normal weapons, and ones like the bow from the optional monster fight in Chapter 6 that says it turns into the Parthia. You can press X on the weapon to see what it says it's going to become when forged.

I've been thinking about the Master classes and how I don't really like how they were implemented, basically you have to master another class that has nothing to do with how you want to build your character and your reward is just a horse version of that class.

I think at that point in the game, learning new skills is a little redundant and less rewarding, Like I already have a bow focused assassin that can use lances, why do I need to teach her how to ride a horse and use axes?

My idea, that they are free to steal is make ultra versions of a class based off of challenges like Assassin>Reaper = get 100 crits Grappler>Fist Master K.O. 100 units unarmed Sniper>Super Sniper Attack 100 units who can't counter etc. It would be a much better way to feel like we're going toward a goal and less like we're forced to level up units in skills we never plan to have them use.

Haha, twice now I've cheesed these monthly tournaments by having Raphael just tank the hits and win by brute force despite not being trained in the relevant weapons at all. This time I did need to give him a Str boost because he wasn't doing enough damage to Dmitri, and you auto-lose if it takes longer than four turns.

Chapter 6 mission map was cool. Half my units were just kinda hanging out doing nothing for most of it, though. Really glad I had a thief handy.

This is good to hear, because usually FE is exactly the opposite where the game starts out hard and gets easier as it goes

Yeah I was actually caught off guard towards the end by how much the enemy quality ramps up. It's possible I just got unlucky on stat growth but there were generic enemies in the last few maps that could ORKO almost any of my units. Those gauntlet enemies, man. Early game they aren't very scary because their attack is just too low to threaten non-squishy units much but later on holy shit does their mixture of speed and attack get brutal.

It doesn't hit like, Conquest late game levels of shenanigans (or H5 Shadow Dragon Endgame when you don't warp skip, which is probably the most brutally difficult map in the series) but you definitely start having to pay attention by around the halfway point, and then the late game requires you to make good use of all your tools to not have serious problems.

Might as well have just admitted you were the Flame Emperor, Edelgard. Save us the trouble. Be a hell of a pump fake if she isn't the Emperor at this point.

Meanwhile I've managed to recruit Ingrid, Felix, and Lysithea. Might try to nab Leonie but that would be it. I still don't know how I got Ingrid, but I'm not complaining about getting a Peg Knight.

I'm glad to hear that the difficulty ramps up. A lot of these chapters have been really easy, and it feels like there just aren't enough enemies on some maps.

Yeah right at the trailer battle, I went from basically using my units as a lawnmower through the stages to actually using things like battalions/divine pulse/creator sword (which I had ignored in favor of an iron axe the entire game prior)

It was the perfect level of matching the amount of broken I was with the amount of broken the game was. There were times when I legit wasn't sure if it was even possible to win with my current team so getting through with no casualties was pretty rewarding.

You'd think mission help would be off limits in Chapter 7, but no, Linhardt is perfectly fine with temporarily betraying his house for the upcoming battle.

I don't know how these other houses think they stand a chance when they only have six students each now, while I've got thirteen students and two knights fighting for me.

Oh right, I'm seeing the first paralogues this month, but I don't see any dialogue associated with them while exploring the monastery. Are they just completely contained to the battle menu, story and all? Just checking, because I don't want to quit exploring only to discover I didn't trigger something and thus can't start the battles next week.

no quest giver or exploration dialogue, it's just in the battle menu and all the cutscenes involved start when you begin it
