I know we all complain about jobs and work sucking and all that, but when you finally get a crazy amount of time off, like even just a month, you get miserable pretty quick. All the good things you love doing quickly become boring.

especially those who don't or didn't have a social life anyway so it's all drowning in negative emotions until one day they do something that lands them in the hospital, jail, homeless or even dead, especially the ones who are trying but aren't seeing any results.

Search for jobs while feeling useless and depressed. I play video games and muck around online sometimes too, but said feeling of uselessness and depression negatively impacts those things too. It kills time, it's rarely actually enjoyable.

Though admittedly, I've been told that the state of my mental health, and how it's very likely been the main cause for my inability to find/keep work, I may qualify for some manner of disability.

Grand irony that I've spent so much time being jobless and miserable that I might get paid to sit there and keep being that way because there's literally nothing else I can do now.

Absolutely. I used to be a traveling pipefitter in a low cost of living area. I'd make 8,000 a month for 6 months a year then take a layoff for the rest. After the first couple weeks you start to feel shitty. I'd often go back to work because of depression and not money needs

I've had some job or another since I was 16, but I was laid off from my "main" job about a decade ago, and was only working I think 15 hours a week in the late afternoon/evening for a couple months before I started taking a couple college courses and eventually got another part time job to complement the one I already had.

So anyway in that period where I wasn't working very much, I was worried about not having much of an income of course, but... I dunno, I had fun otherwise. >_> I was obviously looking for another job, but that isn't a 24 hour a day thing, so got caught up on Xbox 360 games.

...as an aside, it's weird, I obviously wasn't making much money and my wife made less money then by a fair amount compared to now, yet we got by pretty okay. Now we both work full time and make better money an hour yet are in debt and broke. >_>

Im on SSI. I do what others do in their free time. I wish I had more ambition tho. Part of the reason Im starting a gaming hiatus when I get back from my dads cabin mid next week. I need to take away my lazy options.
