This. The only physical game stores I still go to are independent ones that specialise in imports/collectibles/retro stuff.

I stop in now and then. Rarely buy much. Theyre a convenient spot to buy older or niche stuff for sure.

It was ok. The people who worked there were always cool. The only issue I had with them is them selling opened games as new, yet when you try to do the same thing to do them, they say it's used.

I don't understand why anyone would go to a dedicated game store anymore, aside from like retro games. Even if you don't want to buy online you can just get games at Best Buy or Walmart or something and they'll be more likely to have it in stock, it will actually be sealed, and they wont try to get you to sign up for a magazine or pre-order a game or whatever.

It's kind of hilarious how bad GameStop is, I have no idea how they're still around. I guess the margins on used games are enough to keep them afloat despite being terrible in every other area of business.

On release day, best buy never has the games I want. I always have to go to gamestop and they always have them.

Literally just now got back from lunch shopping trip. Best buy and gamestop are participating in the Sony days of play sale. Best buys shelves were empty, and a tumbleweed blew through, while gamestop had what I wanted.

I still go sometimes. But there is an independent place that still gets new games all the time. I went there today as a matter of fact. They have crazy deals on some older games. Although I'll probably get Fire Emblem Three Houses and Super Mario Maker 2 at GameStop.

When I had GCU I would never consider setting foot in GS. I did for the first time in years when MK11 came out. Traded in Sekiro and got $37 credit which was actually better than what BB was offering, which was surprising considering how shitty GS trade in value used to be.

I'll go there for trade ins as long as they give decent credit. Otherwise I'd never willingly set foot in there.

Game stop always has a better selection than walmart. Also I often get still sealed copies of games at gamestop. Only thing I dislike about gamestop is them being cheap when selling them games. I almost never do but did recently with a game that I had 0 intention on ever playing again and I got like a dollar for it.

So I go into Gamestop, and it was actually a pleasent experience. Guy just asked what I needed, told him Days Gone. He grabbed it, told me my card expired months ago, but didn't even ask if I wanted to renew it. Then, he gave me some actual tips for the game before I left.

I still hate Gamestop, but now it's because I got an actually cool employee and I feel bad cause he might be out of a job in a few months to a year

I had the same experience recently. I went to a Gamestop to pick up a game because I couldn't find it anywhere else. The lady working there actually knew what game I was buying since it's kinda niche and commented on how she's been wanting to try the series for a while. She even went to the back room and sealed the game for me without me having to ask. She was super cool.

That was my first time at that Gamestop in my area and I will definitely go there if I decide to go to Gamestop again. It was very spacious and the selection of games were far better than other Gamestops. Plus, she didn't try to sell me on anything unlike some of the Gamestops closer to me. The employees there look completely dead on the inside and don't seem to care all that much of video games. Meanwhile, she seemed genuinely interested in what I was buying and discussed it with me.

Ive had a bad expierence or two but it was cases of thr employee not taking the hint I didnt want what they where trying to push. Main example I recall is I wanted a 360. They had some in stock I said I wanted it but kept trying to talk me into one they didmt have in stock but would have the next day that came with a pre loaded game. A game I didnt give a fuck about. After about 5 minutes of trying to convince her I didnt want that i wanted the one right there in front of me I finally said fuck it and told her screw this I'll just go to Wal-Mart. Ended up buying a new one instead of a used one like a I planned but it was at least a lot less hassle.

Aside from that though only annoyance is how insistent they can be about checking for your membership even when you tell them its expired and dont care to renew it. The pre order spill doesnt bother me as they always seem to to drop it when told no.
