Over 10,000 PEOPLE have signed an online petition demanding the Utah prosecutors seek the DEATH PENALTY on 21 y/o Alex Whipple who gruesomely murdered his 5 y/o NIECE...despite the fact that they already signed an agreement to NOT seek the Death Penalty after he lead police to the child's body!!

Elizabeth "Lizzy" Shelley was found less than a block from her home in Salt Lake City after a 5 day search that ended when the Creep led police to the dirt covered body.

He was charged with murder but provided a map showing the location of her body in exchange for taking the death penalty off the table..and it was reached with the blessing of Shelley's family but the community is still outraged and demand his head on a stick!!

The petition appeared online asking Utah Attorney General's Office to put the death penalty back on the table and to break it's agreement as one person wrote "I firmly believe that Alexander should receive the death penalty. An eye for an eye or in this case, a life for a life"

As of now, more than 10,000 have signed the peetition as Attorney James Swink said they only took the agreement after reaching out to the family who told him that their top priority was to bring their daughter home.

He said the decision was not taken lightly who said they will seek the harshest penalties possible"

Whipple had tried to LICK his BLOOD STAINS off his "filthy" and cut fingers while in interrogation. He also had dried blood coloured stains on his pants and watch as he acknowledged the involvement in his niece's disappearance and said his "alcohol" makes him "black out"

He alluded how "evil the world we live in is" as he talked about his child struggles as Whipple's grandfather revealed he had a difficult childhood and never showed violent tendencies. He knew he was a THIEF but never a murderer..

His mother walked out on the family when he was a kid leaving his father to raise them on their own while he worked as a truck driver. He also went to various foster homes and dropped out of high school

His defense attorney, Shannon Demler said Whipple is "very emotional" and "not in a good mental state" who is very "remorseful"

The motive has not been released but mental illness could be to blame as they expect him to undergo multiple psychiatric evaluations

Lizzy's heartbroken parents, Jessica and Wes has thanked the community for helping to look for her "caring and giving" child as they ask for their privacy

Whipple is charged with aggravated murder, child kidnapping, desecration of a human body and 2 counts of obstruction of justice.

The guy deserves an excruciating death but unfortunately, no death penalty was part of the plea deal.

I don't look at the death penalty as a punishment for the offender. I look at it as a correction for society. You failed to participate properly and may as well be removed for the betterment of everyone else. It's a mercy upon literally everyone.

I don't think an online petition should steer the prosecutors on a case. But this guy really should be up for the death penalty, and they threw that option out the window too easily. Yeah, the family agreed to it, but I'm not sure the victim's family should determine the course of action the prosecutors take like that, either.
Either a crime is heinous enough to pursue the death penalty, or it isn't. There shouldn't be different standards applied because one victim's family is more or less forgiving than another's.

Which? Making prosecution decisions based on online polls? Or encouraging all murderers to put thought into hiding their victims, so they can at least negotiate getting out of the death penalty in return for leading cops to the body once you've been arrested anyway?

Both are pretty terrible precedents to set.

I think he deserves it and painfully as possible, but if not getting it by showing them where that poor little girl's body was part of the deal then that's what stands.

Poor little girl. Her poor family. :(

His eyes are very evil. I know that's a word tossed around a lot, but its true.

I hope this waste of air never gets out of prison and I hope the officers leave him alone with the other prisoners a little too long.

USA laws only allow people to be put to death by lethal injection. No other method is considered acceptable.
One of the reasons people don't like the death penalty is because lethal injections fail often and the prisoner is left in pain for hours, then doesn't even die. Many consider this cruel and unusual punishment.
The guillotine and electric chair would both be easier methods and would cause death quicker, removing the whole cruel and unusual punishment thing. Really I don't get why those things can't just be brought back.

Again, if you buy a bunch of guillotine's instead of ineffective lethal injections it would be cheaper and the lack of "cruel and unusual punishment" may take away appeals as well.

Someone who is innocent and wrongfully imprisoned will most likely want to die. The psychological trauma from prison life lasts forever and completely destroys lives.

By that logic we should not put anyone in prison just incase. Death penalty or other forms of extreme punishment should only be granted to those who have been proven to have committed these terrible crimes. I'm not a advocate for the death penalty as I'd prefer a more fitting punishment but I'm not against it too.

you can never be completely sure. and anyway there is a movie in theaters right now I think called like "on fire" or something. about a true story from 20 years ago of a man accused of setting fire to his children. but he said he didn't do it and the only person who believed him was his lawyer but she failed to save his life. and then later after he was dead, they finally proved he had been innocent.

let's just not kill people.

Perhaps federally, but several states still use electrocution or gas. A few states still even allow hanging or a firing squad.

According to a study out of Amherst College, while lethal injection does has the highest failure rate, only 7% of them have been botched from 1890 to 2010.

Thats more or less how I feel about the death penalty myself. I only want it for those who fucked up in irredeemable ways though. Killing a 5 year old would qualify. That said judge made his ruling apparently so oh well.

In no way do I think a court should listen to random ass people making a petition though.

Death penalty is a waste, a useless measure to soothe the empty hearts of those who are just as wicked as the criminal on the inside. Better to make use of him and those like him for medical experimentation that would be otherwise unacceptable on law abiding human beings, willing or otherwise.
