Not sure what to think of this. You shouldn't be reminding of your audience of Bright.

I'm so tired of the "what if fairy tail creatures lived in our world??????" thing

I know it's Pixar but I just don't see this as something that's a must-see, especially after Good Dinosaur kinda sucking and Incredibles 2 being just OK

but when fucking Cars, a movie about talking Cars that is actually named Cars, is a more original premise, then what the fuck is the point? I turn to Pixar for cool new shit, not this

at least it'll be nice to look at, you can feel the $$$$$$ dripping off of every frame

EDIT: Also "haha it's not raccoons eating their garbage, it's UNICORNS!!!!" is such a fucking lazy joke holy shit. what happened Pixar?

Well, this doesn't look like it'll be very good. But I don't know what I expected, it's been a decade since Pixar made a Pixar-quality movie.

Wow, wasn't expecting Pixar hate when I clicked on this topic. I seem to remember a time when Board 8 worshipped the ground Pixar shat on. Not to mention they've been nothing but competent lately.

Coco was stellar in my opinion. Inside Out, Cars 3, and Incredibles 2 were all solid if not great. Let's not talk about The Good Dinosaur because no one does that anyway.

Current Pixar are competent, 00s Pixar was exceptional.

In the 7 year period between 2003 and 2010 they released Nemo, Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up and TS3 and they're all varying degrees of outstanding except for Cars. Only one sequel, too, and said sequel is one of the great animated movies and in no way forced or an example of diminishing returns.

Their output in the 7 years-ish after that has featured Brave, two Cars sequels, Monsters University, Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory and Coco. Not, like, bad, but 4 of those are sequels/prequels. And unlike Toy Story 3, all of them deliver diminishing returns, failing to match or exceed the previous movie. Finding Dory is great fun, but not as good as Nemo, etc. Two more of those movies (Brave and The Good Dinosaur) simply aren't as good as the stuff in that 2003-2010 list (Cars excepted), both personally and I'd say in terms of general consensus. That leaves only Coco and Inside Out. I loved Coco and it definitely belongs in Pixar's Hall of Fame in my book. Still haven't seen Inside Out but everyone said it was great, so we'll go with that and say Inside Out belongs there too. So that's 2 in 7 years, which is still really good - competent at minimum, sure - whereas before an A+ Pixar movie was practically an annual offering.

That's why people, not just B8, worshipped them before. Because they were worth worshipping. Their creative output was at an obscenely high level that, in hindsight, we should have known was impossible to sustain. But it's easy to look at them now and be like "what happened" - because there has been a significant downturn in the frequency of high-quality Pixar movies.

(Also doesn't help that this decade saw Disney studios really improve - Tangled, Frozen, WIR, Moana, Zootopia all delivered and actually having another studio regularly delivering excellence - because Dreamworks sure as hell wasn't - made Pixar seem a little less special by comparison.)

It's a 1-minute teaser and trailers for animated movies often misrepresent the content since marketing departments don't have a clue. I think the idea is cute but the duo of skinny awkward boy and loud big man is a bit overdone and I'm already bored of the main character here.

Also, screw you all. Coco was incredible and Inside Out was really, really good.

I said this! It's just like... imagine if Up and Wall-E were surrounded by sequels and not-that-good original movies (like TGD). That's what Pixar has been like for the last decade. They're still capable of producing solid gold, they're just not doing it basically every year, like they used to.

It reminds me of Shrek more than anything. The logical conclusion of a storybook fantasy world with modernisms everywhere.

But that's not really a bad thing to me. Shrek was good once and Pixar can probably do a decent take that isn't also dripping with cynicism like Shrek was.

I liked Brave. Inside out is one of the best movies ever. (triple dent gum. Now I got that in you head. :P)

Then again I have weird opinions, so I never listen to critics anyway because I always disagree. I'm like the only person who actually liked Pixels because I went into it knowing nothing (besides that my mother told me the reviews were bad and that it had Adam Sandler in it, who I actually like as an actor) So take my comments with a grain of salt.

But my mother did like Finding Dory and Incredibles 2, so maybe you can trust her opinions more?

Inside Out is great, probably Pixar's best movie in the last few years (though I haven't seen Coco yet).
