Bethesda offered some 80 dollar rum that was advertised as coming in nuka cola shaped bottles.

Turns out, it comes in regular bottles. The nuka cola shape is just a plastic case they put it in.

They never made this apparent until well after people ordered it.

To be fair, the rum was outsourced to another company. Regardless, there is apparently nothing in the advertising to suggest that it is a regular bottle in a plastic case.

I mean... the idea that the design wasn't okay'd by Bethesda is absurd to me. Yong even tries to take away a bit of the blame from them with this logic.

Of course Bethesda knew the rum came in a shitty regular bottle with a shitty plastic encasement even if that wasn't their original intent, which I see no reason to suspect it wasn't.

Companies are required to have an independent board of directors to be listed on the stock exchange, meaning the majority of the board has no vested interest in the company outside of being on the board. Again, with blatantly lying about canvas bags and a game being a dumpster fire, is "We thought they would be special glass bottles" really a controversy. Would this even be a cause for outrage without the other 76 issues? I'm thinking not.

We really do live in an outrage culture in a way. Why get mad at only two things when you can make up a third to intensify that vein popping out of your head? It seems like every controversy out there generates some greatly exaggerated or completely fabricated supporting controversies. It's basically the same logic conspiracy theorists use to fall down the rabbit hole.

Their entire marketing department (or whoever is responsible for stuff like this) shouldve been fired the canvas bag thing. This? This is even worse. $80 and you cant even have the bottle shaped the right way? What the fuck is wrong with Bethesda? Like, there has to be some form of malice at play here. Theres no way theyre actually, legitimately this inept.

This is completely different from game development. The game couldve been fucking amazing and this still wouldve been an absolute travesty.
