From what I remember, it sounded like she would give her kid Xanax to quiet her down or make her fall asleep so she could just do whatever she wanted. Then maybe one day she gave her too much and she didn't wake up (could have suffocated or any number of things while out too), so she freaked and tried to hide it so she wouldn't get in trouble. Obviously the parents raised concerns right away when they didn't see their granddaughter, then it just snowballed from there.

I think the fault was in pressing for first degree murder or trying to get the death penalty. There was a lot of circumstantial evidence there, but it wasn't enough. If they went for involuntary manslaughter there might have been a better chance of having her do some time, but as it stands she got off pretty easily.

Edit: A lot of her behaviour after was pretty scummy though. The immediate return to partying while her daughter was supposedly "missing," all the shit with her dad, etc. She was definitely fucked in the head.

Casey Anthony is guilty, the prosecution was just terrible and the jury were dumb people who didnt understand the concept of reasonable doubt

Also the most insane story Ive ever heard is that apparently she had been telling people she had a job at some kind of studio for ages when in reality she was very much unemployed. Apparently after being caught she told the police the same thing and attempted to sell it by going to the studio, walking around the halls and saying hello to everyone she met who looked at her bewildered. Eventually she literally ran out of floors to run to and came to a dead end, turned around and admitted she didnt work there

Guilty of murder is a bit hard to prove. I highly suspect shes guilty of negiligent homicide (likely caused by using chloroform to try to sedate her daughter) but there is no surefire way to prove that in court as the body was too detriorated to make a conclusive determination.

However guilty of child neglect was definitely provable and they could have thrown the book at her for it. I think the prosecution just got greedy for a big verdict with the eyes of the world on them and couldnt do what they set out to do.

Zimmerman did nothing wrong though. He killed Trayvon but it wasn't murder. You assault a stranger you risk getting shot. He might be an asshole but he was justified in what he did.

There is a recorded 911 call of him following Trayvon in his car, being told not to confront Trayvon, and him willlfully disobeying it. That is not standing your ground.

He didn't disobey anyone. A 911 operator isn't a cop and has no authority. He was a member of the neighbourhood watch for a neighbourhood that had been burglarised multiple times before the incident. Trayvon also got away from him, decided to circle back, attack him and bash his head into the ground. That's definitely a "stand your ground" situation.
