Also, shouldnt the fact that they said they are fine with heading back for $50k mean that their application is auto denied? I mean, they are obviously fine with living in their own country at that point so no need to allow them to come in as refugees.

What logic is that?

If I want to leave my job but my boss offers me a $10k salary increase and I take it, that doesn't mean that I'm saying "I'm fine with my job the way it currently is".

These are refugees. Not employees. The entire basis of the process is that they're fleeing violence or persecution so severe that they risk dying if they stay. If they're willing to take a cash payout to go back, then the conditions can't possibly meet those that would grant them refugee status.

It proves they arent fleeing for their lives, therefore they arent refugees

But some of the refugees claim to be fleeing economic hardships and poverty in their countries, in which case a cash payout is exactly a partial solution to that problem.

I'm not claiming that $50k is supposed to fix fears of ethnic cleansing or gang wars. Even though, even in the US we have circumstances where $50k could get someone out of a bad neighborhood or environment and provide the foundation for them to start anew somewhere else, so even that isn't a ridiculous idea.

economic hardship isn't a qualification for refugee status, though. They can claim it all they want, but that's not a basis for acceptance. And if we really think it should be, there are plenty of poor people in our own country to help.

Whether the United States should accept that deal is a separate argument.

I'm just stating that a conditional return to your country isn't an acknowledgment that you're fine with said country.

what if they wanna use it to relocate elsewhere

Then just take their caravan and relocate there?

It IS an acknowledgement that your life isn't in immediate danger, though. What aren't you getting here? "Not fine" isn't the same as "will die if I go back"

? seems like a nonsequitur

So is asking hypotheticals like "what if they wanna go somewhere else" when their demand explicitly states that they'll use the money to go back home.

It's also worth noting that the person who organized this particular demand, at least according to the Washington times article on this, is a US designated terrorist:
Mr. Guerrero, the organizer of the $50,000 demand, has a checkered history. The U.S. has labeled him a terrorist after he was suspected in a bombing that wounded six U.S. soldiers at a Chinese restaurant in Honduras, according to a 1987 story in The New York Times.

Mexico called him a freedom fighter and granted him asylum in their country. The U.S. protested that grant.

It was just a small yearly thing not worth paying attention to, until
It was just people who were going to get processed by Mexico, until
It was just going to be half a year or more before they started to arrive, until
It was just people who were going to wait patiently without trying to storm the border, until
It was just a small contingent of the migrants being directed by a literal terrorist to make demands with a 72 hour "time limit to respond" in the form of cash payments in exchange for compliance.

Meanwhile Tijuana has had to relocate them because the stadium they were staying at has been rendered unlivable, the city is collapsing under the weight of all these people, and rather than acknowledge that a serious problem is occurring that's going to boil over into bigger and bigger problems, here we are again being told "it's just"....

That's pales in comparison to the exaggeration of an invading army coming to take Texas.

It seems like you think that's still going to happen.

Yeah it is a problem. The U.S. should increase the applications they process.

Yeah it is a problem. The U.S. should increase the applications they process.

They're already processing at a higher rate than they traditionally do, but hypothetically let's say they could wave a wand and make an army of lawyers, judges, and social workers appear to fulfill this supposedly "one-time" problem. What happens to the huge number of people whose applications are rejected in short order and who will take them? What happens to this new infrastructure created the moment demand goes away? How do we prevent this from becoming a more frequent occurrence?

There's no perfect solution, but I think I've found one that makes everyone happy to the best of our ability:
The US should just take every single migrant and transport them (at our expense) to the US-Canada border and help them all across. Clearly the US is more dangerous and less welcoming for these migrants than Canada, and as the superior country they shouldn't have any issues with us ignoring their sovereignty to help some migrants find a better life. Everyone wins: the migrants make it to a wealthy country, the US doesn't have to support them, and Canada gets to put their money where their mouth is with regard to how the US should be treating them.

I am white, Hispanic is my ethnicity. Not sure what you're talking about but I don't see any of this in Houston. I've met people from other countries and states I don't hate them or feel negative towards them. It's these individuals only that are my problem. I know CE only reads certain news and stuff but majority of these people don't need the help.

Did you hear about the teen who fell out a caravan and died? Turns out he was living fine with his dad he just wanted fancy things they had a roof, food, etc...even the dad was interviewed and looked ashamed and confused as to why he wanted to come here.

The famous meme Honduran lady who complained because she was given beans and tortillas for 2 days claiming it was pig food and that she ate better food in Honduras. Someone found her Facebook and you could see her wearing skirts some Michael koors purse, jewelry, etc....She got into the US not long ago when we got reports of them getting tear gased. She showed her Facebook to immigration and had a lot of death threats of people calling her ungrateful and to go back if she lived better, etc... because of those threats she is now here legally in Dallas with her sister. She claimed her husband was dead and that her daughter was blind and needed help medically but no daughter has been found to be hers or proof shown also nothing about a husband from neighbors or known individuals.

The guys flashing there ass to US immigration also giving the finger on the other side of the border.

A guy saying he was going to ask to be pardoned because he has a history of felonies theft, attempt murder and assault with a deadly weapon he wanted to make things right.

I can post a lot more stuff and find you YouTube links showing proof.

I say out of 100 people only 2 are coming because they really have too.
