I have a coworker who is White but he uses the term regularly. I feel it's a racist term even when White people use it.

It's super racist by today's standards. Personally I don't care because I'm not a crybaby, but if held to the same standards as any derogatory term it should be just as taboo.

No doubt it's still racist. But you're not going to see any uproar about it because it's just white people talking to other white people. You don't see many news reports of black people flipping out and resorting to violence when they're called the n-word by other black people either.

If a black person were to call a white person white trash then I'm sure that white person won't react too kindly to that in the same way they'd react if another white person were to call them that. So it wouldn't exactly strike me by surprise that a black person were to feel very insulted by being called black trash if a white person were to call him that too.

It's racist by conventional standards, but it doesn't provoke much outrage and the people who are usually outraged over racism also happen to be some of the people who use it the most often.
