I have to imagine that this guy's trolling me or something, at this point. So many lies. So much shit that can't be verified that he is spouting off as fact.

Right. And your stupid ass paper code needed to play a physical game is verified where exactly?

They didn't. Apple and Sony have always been far more anti consumer.

Nintendo was for a while as well.

I literally never said "this is how they were doing it". I only said that's one way I thought it could have been done.

You have stated things as if they were fact that have been proven wrong.

No that's exactly what you said and then drew some completely irrelevant comparisons to PC games.

I think they were planning to use the Kinect to verify retail games using QR codes but we'll never know now.

What's the purpose of the disc, then. Why not just sell you a plastic card with a QR code? The disc has no function if it contains no license information.

Go ahead and quote the post where I said they were doing that.

Because I've already spelled it out for you quite clearly:

I only brought up PC licenses as a response to your foolish claim that a disc and a key is a digital downlaod copy.

To install the game off the disc without downloading it.

I don't know what you mean. It would be the same way several PC games handle it but with that weird trade-in thing with participating retailers. The only console that I'm aware of that has unique ID info for each individual game is the Switch.

This disc would have the game I just purchased. Some people have very slow internet, or data caps. If I were one of those people and I went out and bought a game only for them to tell me to download the entire thing instead, I'd be super pissed. Like those that complain about day one patches that go into the double digits in gigabytes.

I mean you should be super pissed because that's more or less where that DRM road was going to end anyway. Lots of people were super pissed and which is why they removed it.

Keep in mind that as the old Xbox one was essentially an always online system, and being online forbids you from playing an older version of a game unless you disconnect first, which you cannot do, you can and should expect that basically every game you install will want to download an enormous patch as soon as you boot it up.
