I rarely buy physical anymore due to the simple fact I can have the game downloaded and ready to play when it unlocks, as opposed to going to a midnight release or worrying that the store I go to might not have the game on launch day. Basically digital suits my laziness and is convenient as hell.

You could literally make a console 'digital only' right now without buying this model. This model outright eliminates one option. Comparing this to Steam is dumb because Steam doesn't eliminate the option to buy a physical game

Its cheaper to manufacturer without a disc drive and potentially able to make smaller. Its an option for people who want to spend less money.

If you want one with a digital disc drive...buy one with a disc drive. Are you really pretending not to get it?

Love just saying Xbox watch NBC to go right to Sunday Night Football then just go Xbox go to Skyrim to to play a game without having to get up or change any discs. All my games are digital well except Tomb Raider cuz i wanted the pretty tin

Oh yes, you own a console that Gamestop was virtually giving away for free last year compared to one that plays 4K 60 FPS modern games and movies and costs several times more. Totally the same thing.

I went from a PS4 Pro to a Xbox One X for many reasons but the bottom of that list has to be the dumbass children that migrated over to PS4 at the beginning of the generation

I said it's entirely possible that you'd see a lot less 'regular models' and more of these. Also, do you really not see a problem with companies phasing out disc drives entirely? Because that wouldn't satisfy a large amount of the gamerbase that has a preference just like you do.

Then they would lose sales....you realise Microsoft is a business in it to make money right? If there is a large enough market for both they will satisfy both...

Microsoft digial marketplace competitor would be any place that you can play that same game. Hence Steam and Sonys would be as well...

Anyhoo, Microsoft has enough digital services in place to justify a digital only console. Xbox Game Pass is so good that Playstation had to adjust their shitty Playstation Now to accommodate, and unlike Sony, Microsoft does offer digital refunds similar to Steam, although they typically require a quick phone call.

This is just the "PSP GO" of the Xbox, relax people

I'm not sure the last time I bought a disk game tbh, even on console downloaded most of them.

It would suck for playing DVDs though, but with the rise of netflix etc, often makes that redundant. If they can offer something similar for films (without losing your copy of the DVD, I guess) then could be a potentially good idea.

DRM and all that. Nobody is bothered by gamers who prefer to buy digital, and nobody is going to hunt you down for wanting this model, but it's really goofy to act oblivious to these things

With the rise of Steam, digital is only becoming more common place and is almost certainly going to become the standard with disc becoming the rare oddity. The sheer simplicity and ease of it is already winning out over "DRM issues"

Give them an inch and they'll take a mile. If we let even a single discless console succeed, future consoles will be more willing to be discless. You have to think about it in the long term

I bought a 400 gb micro sd for my Switch. I dont think Ill have to worry much about storage, its not like its going to get big multiplat games anyways.
