As someone who never cared about her you guys are constantly putting out the dumbest shit that gets me on her side

https://twitter.com/ocasio2018/status/1063208373192146945

Like this crap. Why not focus on her positions (in a non sensational) way to get your point across. If shes as dumb as you make her out to be shouldnt be that hard to stick to the actual policy points.

Trump is really easy to criticize based on his policies but most of the criticism against him is ad hominem stuff.

That's just how it is in politics.

Most of the criticism against Trump. That you hear in mainstream and social media.

It's not like Orcasio-Cortez's policies aren't criticized on their own. She's a literal socialist.

People tried that. There's not enough substance to even criticize, and she refuses to discuss details or take debates. Her policy sheet was a one-pager of grand promises she can't or won't address in terms of how they'll be implemented. When asked how she would cover the costs, she literally just replies "just pay for it".

Most of the criticism i see about Trump from mainstream media is policy related. Social media depends on the account.

Any free college model is a flawed one. They should be focusing on incentivizing and de-stigmatizing blue collar positions, not jamming mediocre students who won't benefit from it into a university system which will only make degrees worthless and compromise on quality even more than it already has been.

As a public school teacher working in NYC a lot of my kids are unmotivated into actually entering college and most think HS is the end of the line for them - stuff like fasfa gives them a second wind and shit and hope, you saying shit like mediocre students is why my students believe theyre not enough.

Like I highly doubt Im gonna change your mind but a lot of kids I teach turn themselves Around once they learn that they can attend college and they do deserve a right to higher education

Like Im not gonna argue you because stuff like this is rooted in racism and classism (not saying youre a bigot or anything) you seem pretty firm in your opinion, and blue collar jobs are important, but a lot of children especially from low income areas can benefit from not having to worry about tuition

Did you consider that maybe they feel like failures because they've spent their whole life being told that not going to college is failing? I'm not talking about "deserving a right to go to college"... I'm talking about people who would benefit far more from a trade or apprenticeship over more schooling.

I didnt say that, just that college should be an option - there are plenty of opportunities for stuff like that here in NYC and most kids are already working at 14 to take care of their siblings so theyre usually already skilled. Just that some of my kids who have interests in higher education shouldnt have to worry about tuition on top of everything else going on and wondering if their best friend got home alive.

Like I said, the option should be there - no student is mediocre there are just strengths and weakness us teachers learn to nurture

Blue collar work isn't bad work though. In fact it can be great work. Just like a job you get with a college degree can be great or bad or somewhere in between.

If you want to argue that everyone should have a chance to see if college is right for them, then a good compromise would be to make community college free. Tennessee has done that and it's funded by the state lottery, so I would think it's actually doable across the country.

college should be an option, but what exactly do you think will happen if everyone gets a free shot? The dropout rate is already 30% for first year kids. That number would only increase, calling for a massive demand to "do something about it" while at the same time the "good jobs" will start requiring a master's degree. You've now shunted kids through 4 years of crap they won't use, dicked over the kids that could benefit from it, and set the economy on fire because tuition costs will skyrocket from whatever they are now to whatever they can get away with under a government bureaucracy.

I feel for you wanting to help your kids succeed, but you're not thinking with your teacher brain here. You're proposing something you think will help some of your kids without really considering the massive damage you could be doing to all the other kids in the country.
