I thought the needle only spooked him away from powerful enemies. I guess that means he killed the guy out of frustration? I've never really considered why he even did that and no one cared so it was never brought up again.

I'm probably looking at next season stuff too early but I'm bored at work now so oh well. After attempting to watch everything in 2018, I hope to be a bit pickier in 2019. And what better way to choose than by joining the old tradition of posting thoughts about next season stuff! Using names and plot descriptions from AniChart. I'll do these a few at a time until I finish or decide to stop.

Sequels:
Mob Psycho II- the first season is one of a great many things currently buried in my backlog. If I manage to finish it in time, I guess I'll watch this.

Kakegurui xx- Hell yes, Kakegurui S1 is a top ten anime for me and I need more Yumeko gambling in my life. That said, Netflix will probably delay this season too so I'll watch it someday I guess.

Date a Live III- I had hoped to watch the first two seasons before they left Crunchyroll but I didn't have time. It sounded neat, at least.

3D Kanojo 2- I may have tried to be a 2018 completionist but not even I hated myself enough to watch the first season of 3D Kanojo.

New Stuff:
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari- Isekai about a dude with a shield. Sounds like it's trying too hard to find an isekai angle that hasn't been done before. I'll pass on this unless it gets high praise.

Yakusoku no Neverland- Orphans learn some sort of secret. This honestly sounds like something that would be right up my alley since I like mysterious things and kids going on adventures like Stranger Things.

Boogiepop wa Warawanai- There's a legend about a shinigami, and it's true! This plot description didn't tell me a damn thing. I'll still probably check it out though, mostly because I remember people here talking about it.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokura Setai- Love is war, and the loser is the one who confesses first! I'm the kind of guy who hates drawn out romantic teasing (just kiss already you dumb kids) but I guess this could be a funny take on that since they'll be doing it on purpose. I dunno, I'm on the fence.

Dororo- A guy gets fake limbs and tries to reclaim his real limbs from demons. That definitely sounds neat, but reading the description also reminded me of Sword Gai and his edgy sword-arm, which isn't the greatest thing for an anime to remind me of.

5-Toubun no Hanayome- A guy tutors quintuplet girls. I'm not the biggest fan of blatant fanservice anime and I probably won't bother checking if this is one of the few good ones.

Revisions- People are transported into the future and control... giant... robots? Okay I've already forgotten the description, it just went on and on. I'll probably wait to see what other people think of this. I could see it either being amazing or stupid and confusing.

Comments have made me more likely to check out a few anime, so keep them coming if my first reactions are unfair or incorrect!

Sequels:
BanG Dream 2nd Season- Early front-runner for AotY 2019, especially if they introduce all the great characters from the mobile game. Kasumi will always be the best though.

Kemono Friends 2- I haven't followed the drama surrounding this at all. I thought the first season was cute, but I didn't love it. I'll still watch this though.

Fukigen na Mononokean Tsuzuki- A sequel to something I've never heard of.

Piano Mori 2- I hope to watch the first season on Netflix before the end of the year. I guess I'll see how it is then.

New Stuff:
Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka- aka Magical Girl Special Ops. Whether I care about this will depend on where it falls on the edginess scale. Yuki Yuna/Madoka, sure sign me up. Magical Girl Raising Project/Site, no thanks. I'll need to research it a bit I suppose.

Endro- A cutesy looking anime where girls learn how to defeat a constantly reviving demon lord. Not gonna lie, this sounds amazing.

Ueno-san wa Bukiyou- A third grader falls in love with a second grader and tries to use crazy inventions to make that clear, with hilarious results. This honestly sounds like it could be alright as long as it isn't directed at children.

Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita- A college student falls in love with a fifth grader. If they handle it like Uzamaid, I'm tentatively intrigued.

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no ue- A writer adopts a cat to use for inspiration. Wait a minute... isn't that basically Garfield? Is this anime-style Garfield? I'm going to need to watch it just to find that answer.

Girly Air Force- People create false girls to fight in sci-fi fighter jets against aliens. Why couldn't you just use real girls in normal jets. Meh, I like Ace Combat-style dogfighting but this just strikes me as really uninteresting. I'll still probably check it out though.

Kemurikusa- Girls fight to survive against strange creatures in a world of red fog. This sounds like it could be awesome but I'm going to need to check out the production values first because it also sounds like it could be Lord of Vermilion, one of the worst things I've ever seen.

Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai- Air fighter mercenaries work to guard people on the frontier. This basically stole the one interesting thing Girly Air Force- had going for it except this sounds way better. I'm looking forward to it!

Seconding this. Binged the whole manga in a few days. The trailer looks ok as well.

B-Project- Another sequel to something I've never heard of.

New Stuff:
Grimms Notes- People have books of fate, but Chaos Writers are changing them! This world must have tons of plot holes. It's also a video game adaptation so I'll probably pass on it.

Pastel Memories- Another video game adaptation, this one about managing an otaku shop while also battling some memory virus. At least this one sounds kinda interesting but I don't have high hopes.

Egao no Daika- Something about nobles on another world. This had a surprisingly lengthy description considering how it told me absolutely nothing.

W'z- A guy is a DJ and... stuff happens on the internet? The picture makes me think this will be a bad Persona ripoff.

Circlet Princess- It's about an augmented reality sport. I also had the idea for an augmented reality sport way back in high school so I'll need to watch this purely to see how fully they stole my idea.

Meiji Tokyo Renka- The description said it was a romance, but little else.

Bermuda Triangle: Colorful Pastrale- It's about mermaid idols! You don't need to say anything more, anime. You've won me over.

Renshi Ekoda-chan- I disliked the art style in the image so much that I didn't even read what it was about.

Dimension High School- Guys are transported to an anime world and go to high school there. I could see this being funny if they go crazy with it and are self-aware, but that's also a recipe for the blandest school anime ever if they do it wrong.

Flying Babies- It's about people trying to become hula girls. That has potential, but I'm not a fan of the art style based on that one image I've seen of it.

That list at the end is literally just the stuff where I went 'oh hell yeah, I want this right now'. I'll still check out other stuff and hope to be pleasantly surprised. I just won't be watching literally everything like I tried to in 2018. Lord of Vermilion, Island, Master of Ragnarok... lots of stuff made me reevaluate the dark road I was on!

I looked at next season and I think the thing I'm excited most for is fantasy Yuru Yuri, to be honest.

I will probably also watch The Promised Neverland, as well as likely Shield Hero and maybe Dororo. (Shield Hero I will mention I am only interested in because of the staff behind the anime, but whatever it looks good.)

I'm pretty down on White Fox right now because of Goblin Slayer. Even ignoring how generally unimpressive the show is as a whole, the production is pretty weak, too.

Shield Hero looks good from the PVs, though, and I know at least the first couple volumes of the manga are good stuff.

I'm not saying they should gleefully kill Komugi, but killing Pitou would be worth it even with the unfortunate sacrifice. Like, the way I saw it was that Gon was off the deep end and finally ready to kill someone who needed killing. Killua, not wanting to let an innocent die (what about that old man you randomly murdered at the end of the exam arc and, aside from having broken the rules, no one cared, Killua?) and, in desperation, he brought up Kite to stop Gon. Saving Kite wasn't Killua's main concern there, it was saving Komugi, some girl he had no particular reason to care about in comparison to the importance of their mission/revenge. I guess I just wanted random-murderer Killua to team up with don't-give-a-fuck Gon.

Their motivation had nothing to do with the world. You're reading the set up wrong. Gon is enraged because of Kite and wants to bring him back/get revenge. Ultimately I'm saying it's revenge because I read it that Gon was in denial about Kite's death. Because it's a revenge story, Killua is concerned for Gon's mental state. He's not being himself, he's willing to kill an innocent and hold her hostage for his own purposes. Killua doesn't want to see Gon go down THE DARK PATH. They were not there to help protect the world.

Looking back earlier in the topic about HxH thoughts, it's funny that a few of you are saying how you dislike Gon so much in the Chimera ending. I said it in my initial thoughts after finishing the arc, but I thought it was by far the most interesting Gon is the entire series. Like I don't actually think Gon is that great of a character in general tbh, he gets upstaged by almost everyone around him. That flip of the switch for him was just so refreshing, and then the outlet of emotions once he finds out about Kite's fate is great. Meanwhile Killua has been getting steady development with realizing how much he cares about Gon, and that whole sequence is heartbreaking for him especially when Gon snaps directly at him.

HxH spoilers I generally like Gon, but yeah, he was great in this arc. I'm just salty because I wanted him to go down the dark path and wreck the place, but Killua had developed to the point where he held Gon back

White Fox is pretty unimpressive in general, animation-wise. Re:Zero was probably their best looking show, and it's not exactly a stunner.

I feel like the general directing is pretty on point usually even without the budget. They tend to make it work. Not feeling that with GS at all.

5-toubun isn't really a fanservice ecchi manga. It has moments but it's not the focus by any means. It has bath scenes, but it doesn't do ecchi shit outside of them, tho some have been superficial for sure. It's mostly focused on being a romcom about the MC tutoring the five girls and them falling in love with him.

Not saying you def need to try it or anything cause it is a trashy harem "rom"com but at least the manga isn't really blatant fanservice, if you meant the ecchi kind. It's certainly less than say Monogatari, unless the anime cranks it way up compared to the source material.

Minor spoilers The 'love is war' aspect gets toned down a lot as the story progresses, though I don't think it is that overused in the first place.
