That's the best part about this topic.
The perfect analogy for the modern Republican party, and now they'd proudly using it.

When I hear "Blue Wave" I sarcastically think, "sure as hell beats a Red Tide." But to hear them use it intentionally is just so much better!

Also, one of the remaining seats for House is one I voted by mail for, and the count right now is stupid close between the two candidates. I'm hoping Hill beats Knight, though, since Knight has spent his tenure just spouting Repub rhetoric on every issue, without an ounce of enthusiasm or dignity, even disregarding facts or numbers poised against him in one town meeting I witnessed for about a moment. (I don't even remember what)

Just... urgh, this state infuriates me on so many levels.

Feinstein even won when I had hoped that her opponent, another Dem, would win.

Sounds like tc is about to start his period

no but you libcucks will surely be menstruating all over the place when you get TRUMPED tonight :^)

1.) legitimate political discourse revolves around policy and legislative reasoning. Base-level namecalling and similar useless rhetoric only serves to make you look like a fool.

2.) spewing partisan slang and empty aggression is the best way to make sure people consider you a brainless drone. An ideological conservative is a respectable person. A mindless follower is not.

3.) think before you speak. Use objective reasoning, not emotional blabbing. when you get trumped tonight is a prime example. Every polling agency was predicting the the house would go to the democrats and the senate would shift further to the republicans. Thats exactly whats happened. This was expected, and had you actually used objective reasoning in forming your prediction, you wouldnt have said something as stupid as you did. In fact, Republicans did very bad this election. They gained 3 seats in the senate, but lost 24 (as of this post) seats in the house. Thats a net loss. Especially considering how it means that Republicans now do not have single-party rule. Republican legislation will now have a much harder time going through.

Seriously, you sound like the village idiot. People like you make ideological conservatives like myself look absolutely terrible. You choose to think and speak as a brainless drone, with no objective-based reasoning.

If youd like, we can demonstrate this further. I challenge you to a legislative debate, here on this board. You go ahead and reference all the legislation that you are happy about from this administration. Reference actual legislation, not just empty rhetoric. Also reference the impact that the legislation has had. Again, do not reference rhetoric. Just policy. Cite statistical analysis that show the impact of the policy in question.

When you do, Ill do the same. Ill reference the policies that have been implemented, and the economic and statistically-backed effects that they have had.

@Entity13 I completely disagree with the direction that the Republican Party has taken for the last couple decades. I am a conservative, sure, but thats not saying Im republican. A simple long-term economic impact analysis of republican-backed fiscal policy shows how it financially harms the country. The boost to the economy spurred on by this most-recent tax cut is a mirage. All economic analysis show a poor outcome ahead.

I ask that you look at this. Go to part IV, section E.
https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/analysis-house-gop-tax-plan-0/full
This is a Tax Policy Center analysis. It is non-partisan, and all analysis are based on mathematical and statistical calculations.

The GDP boost of 0.9% in the first year will be quickly offset by a GDP falter of 0.5%. The long-term effect in 2036 will be a further reduction in the GDP of 2.6%.

That is the definition of an economic meltdown. Forget 2008. This is going to be 1929 all over again. The budget deficit is skyrocketing out of control.

So yes, I am a conservative. And yes, I agree with you on the opinion that the Republican Party is headed in the wrong direction.

...you're aware that the events of 1929 weren't about the national debt, right? Given that the way that the national debt has been handled, budget deficits are effectively meaningless right now because we have an obscene amount of credit available. As such, it's not a threat to the economy.

Did you even read the analysis I referenced? And yes, I fully understand what happened in 1929. By comparing it to 1929, I am talking about the severity of the economic collapse. The government will not be able to cover for a GDP reduction of over 2%. Industries will collapse, and millions of jobs will evaporate. That is what happened in the Great Depression, which is why I referenced 1929.

As for the deficit, using the excuse of good credit is an extremely flawed approach. A skyrocketing deficit is horrific for long-term prospects. regardless of credit.

Also it is hilarious that you seem to not care about the deficit. From what Ive seen, you are a consistently republican poster. It has been long established tradition for concern about the deficit to be a hot issue for republicans. Im surprised you are so lax about it.

The more debt is piled on, the greater the amount of tax revenue that has to be diverted to interest payments to service that debt and the greater the impact will be.

That's not a dealbreaker, but running sky-high deficits now, during a period when the economy is roaring and sound economic policy would involve paying down the debt, is economic lunacy.

Plus, just imagine how bad it will get when the next recession hits. The massive deficits being run now is under the best case scenario of the economy.

Not to mention interest rates are still near historic lows, but are slowly climbing back into normalcy. In the future, it will get more and more expensive to borrow money to pay off the debt incurred from previously borrowing money.

Yes, Ive read his writings on occasion. Trickle-down has never been a sound strategy. Every single instance where its been implemented, it fails to function as an effective policy framework. And yes, I agree with your last statement. Although, Id say it doesnt just apply to conservatives. Id say any principled person in general, not just conservatives, is disgusted by the modern Republican Party. Its a shame that things have come to this.

Honestly, I only knew of the college sports team name because Daniel Tosh makes fun of Alabama a lot and usually ends the joke with "Roll Tide!" or the like.

Not big into sports. That said, yeah....it was a joke. Just having fun shooting down all the various potential names for a Republican version of the Blue Wave.

The HoR race in District 25 is so, so close. Ventura County finished counting, putting Steve Knight barely ahead, but more than half of Los Angeles County remains, where Katie Hill is doing better. I mean, if the trend holds, she could beat Generic McCongressman Knight once LA is finished tallying. It'll be damn close until the end, though.

Yep. Steve Knight seems like he might, maybe, be an alright guy outside of the political environment, so I'm hoping this change will be good for him. Meanwhile, we have someone new entering this seat that hasn't come off as your generic, cookie cutter politician that just repeats whatever their party wants to say in a given time. No more listening in during townhall meetings and hearing someone drone on about talking points.
