Shut up, Eclair. You have no social life only because you don't actively seek out the friendship of others.

Between going to school, having homework, and possibly having to also work on the weekends, it's not likely the average college-goer could have a social life unless they're not that serious in their studies as an academic, is it? I mean, the one acquaintance I have at school tells me that she is too busy to do homework with me on the weekends, and it just made me think if being too busy to hang out is normal for a college student. I'm too shy to talk to anyone besides, so that's likely the main problem, here. And even if I did bother talking to them, it's not like I have any social skills to speak of that would allow me to continue a conversation I might start with them. Anyway, is it normal for college students to not have much free time? This weekend was the exception, since I had finished all my homework by the time the weekend started.

As a result, I've had more idle time to think about things like when to get my own credit card without an annual fee. I mean, I do have to get one eventually to pay the bills once I graduate, but I'm not sure when the right time is. I'm thinking that I should start looking to fill out credit card applications once October the twenty-eighth comes, when I'll know if I'm getting a raise, since I got one last year, and a higher income might give me a higher line of credit. Anyway, this is just another topic about me complaining about being lonely about the weekend again, so feel free to ignore this paragraph, because I'm very likely just repeating the same things I've said on previous weekends.

Also, sorry I had to put the "Shut up, Eclair" option into two different slots; the whole message couldn't fit in one line. Anyway:

I must have these answers.

Fucking break up your paragraphs already.

And yes, depending on your course-load and whatever jobs you're working, you might not have a ton of time. And work on the weekends? Dude, you can work weeknights, too. If you're just doing school and working weekends, you'd probably have a lot of time.

I am doing school and working on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I sometimes might have free time on the weekends depending on the amount of homework I have.

When I went to college, it was unusual to actually go to fucking CLASS.

I forget the statistic, but it's something like 60% of college freshmen will not graduate.

That first year butchers a good chunk of the student body. The ones who get caught up in partying, sleeping in, skipping class, failing classes, becoming alcoholic sluts. It was very amusing to watch.

Just throwing money away, all because they are blindly trying to "embrace their youth" or whatever the fuck.

If you are good at managing your time, it is possible to have plenty of time to study and relax with friends....and still ace all your classes.

If you are going for the standard 15 to 18 credits per semester, you can oftentimes organize your schedule to ONLY having classes MWF....giving you tuesdays and thursdays to just study for half the day (assuming you even need to do that much) and party for the rest of the day. And then allllll weekend to do whatever.

College was the easiest thing in the world for me. But I saw how incredibly difficult and drama-fueled it was for many people around me. But that's because those little brats lacked discipline.

I gotta be honest, I feel like the majority of people who claim they have no time to do anything because of school work are either lazy, slow, or both. Or something else, like maybe they like having it as an excuse because they're not very social.

I went through 4 years of college, working 1-2 jobs while maintaining a long-distance relationship during much of it, and continuously doing things with friends / having a social life. True, I wasn't in the most intensive field or the best school. But I still had projects / tests / homework all the time that I had to do. I understand some majors had more than me though.

However, my wife was in a high workload major. She was in an honors program at a pretty prestigious school. She still had time to work, maintain a long distance relationship with me, and have a social life.

I should mention we both were commuter students and didn't live on campus, which makes me even more incredulous when people claim they have no free time between classes and homework.

I had 17 credit semesters generally, w/ 3 classes (3 credits each) and 2 labs (which are way more work than 1 credit hour is worth), majoring in engineering.
I also worked around 12 hours weekdays on campus.
And I was in like 10 different student groups.
And I still had time to have a gf, play a lot of video games, watch anime, and...oh yeah, study...

That's what I put it there for; if not, you can just vote for the third option, which basically says the same thing without the proverbial language.

I must be honest: Every time I think about socializing with new people, or asking for the numbers of the people whom I do know and asking to hang out with them, I feel like the barrel of a loaded gun is being held up against my neck. :(

College over here and Uni for that matter tends to be a part time thing. Many will get a part time job too for cash and to fill in their time. They still however find enough time to go out and enjoy themselves as I'm always seeing many students when I'm out drinking. I even attempt to hit on a few because why not?

While I don't know the exact number (and that could be right), keep in mind that it's *not* merely academic failure but also kids who realize college isn't right for them and others who can't pay for school because of other obligations.

I think your assumption that you need social skills to talk to people is flawed. Just say shit. I'm not the best at it, but I've constantly put myself in situations outside my comfort zone and I've gotten a lot better at quickly making friends and socializing in different environments because of it. It just takes practice, but to get started it just takes not really giving a shit and just talking to whoever about anything.

It is common for college students to be busy with their classes and studies that they don't have time for social life. Some students are studying all day. However, they do participate in activities and talk to classmates and other students during meal times and before and after classes. Those could be counted as social life.
