I was 50/50 on this issue but I am really finding it hard to believe that the U.S. managed to send astronauts 238,900 miles to the moon, and back in the 1960s.

They did it six times in the 60's and 70's, believe it or not.

Funny that as video quality improved they decided to stop going to the moon.

Yeah of course we went.

No we didn't stop going because "video quality improved". We stopped going because it's ludicrously expensive to send people to the moon, and public interest was waning.

With todays tech and interest in space travel you'd think a trip to the moon would be great practice for a Mars trip, not just for the US, but Russia, China etc

If Elon Musk shot a bunch of people up there and live streamed the entire thing, it would easily be the most viewed thing probably ever

Bottom line is its highly unlikely anyones been up there, the tech wasnt available back then and the whole thing was just a stunt to beat the Soviet Union

I think we've been there since (in unmanned drones) but we absolutely didn't land on the moon in the 60s

This. There's just no real reason to return to the moon. The costs greatly outweigh the benefits. We need to be exploring space for habitable planets in case Earth ever becomes inhabitable. Exploring barren rocks like the moon is pointless.

Actually what we need to be doing is to send astronauts to Mars, not the moon. Also, we need to create real terraforming so that we could make Mars habitable.

Mars is the next logical step, not repeatedly sending astronauts to the moon for no real reason.

Conspiracy theorists like to say stuff like we stopped going to the moon because "video quality improved" but honestly if you really think about it, it would be easier to fake a moon landing now with modern CGI than it would have been in the 60s. The whole conspiracy theory makes no sense at all.

Are you questioning the first landing or all? I can get the first cause I wouldn't put it past any country to cheat. Other than that, yeah, we've been to the moon. You can even see rocks from the moon in some museums. You have to take their word for it, but it's proof unless you can prove it's just a rock.

Just about every major even in world history has some sort of conspiracy attached to it, so there is no surprise the moon landing has one too.

I for one have no reason to think its fake.

The amount of conspirators involved if it was fake (especially when you get to saying ALL of the landings are fake) is so staggering that analysts have concluded it would be basically harder to get away with faking the moon landing than actually landing on the moon.

Not only that, but an operation like that would require thousands of people to keep a secret. Impossible, somebody would have blown the whistle pretty much immediately.

The very fact that the Soviets never disputed that America was successful should be more than enough proof. Theyd want to discredit it back then if there was any reason to believe it was a hoax.
