Sure it was before he was in Sm4sh, and sure Xenoblade is probably more popular and has gotten sequels since then, but uh he's got a lot of ground to make up I think.

I don't think people care about Rosalina enough to try.

Drake beat Pac-man, Cecil came relatively close to Knuckles. Does Rosalina beat that? I kind of doubt it. Peach would have trouble beating those guys and Rosalina isn't going to be anywhere near Peach. Think this is a Drake/Knuckles show and Drake might have fallen off a bit since 2k13 because Uncharted is a finished series, although Knuckles looked pretty bad his last few times around.

Shulk is going to be stronger but this pack is a too much for him still.

Uncharted might be finished, but he got UC4 after 2013, which was very well received, so I think it'll help Nate maintain that level, if nothing else.

Eh, I don't know that Smash disproportionately helps total unknowns that much. Marth is a pretty big exception, I think.

Although Xenoblade isn't a total unknown around here. Even if the 2012 GOTY class was weak, it did still finish 2nd.

Rosie beats Shulk easily. The rest are pretty close but I think Drake beats Cecil. Drake went head to head with Pac-Man and I would take Rosalina to beat Pac-Man pretty easily. I know this was pre-U4 but that hype has died down enough to not really matter.

I don't even think Peach would have an easy win against Pac-man. I'd take her but I doubt it goes above 55%.

I actually think Shulk has a solid chance at beating Rosalina, but his ceiling is pretty clearly under Drake/Knux so it's easier to just shrug and give Rosalina the win there.

She never did anything like that to Sonic, so I have a hard time believing she'd disproportionately affect Knuckles. The dude just hasn't looked that good in about a decade. Even with Mario SFFing Zelda in 2008, he didn't come anywhere close to second place. He didn't even really finish that far ahead of Fei (only projects to a 60/40).

But yeah, I've said for a while that barely beating Cecil said way more about Knux than it did about Cecil.

Also his Round 1 2013 performance isn't great. Getting 46% against two C-grade FF characters who are definitely LFFing each other is...well it definitely shows that his performance against Cecil wasn't a fluke, if nothing else.

She's from a second tier Mario game, and all that other stuff hasn't really helped Wario, Waluigi, or Toad. Peach herself isn't all that popular either, and she's been around a lot longer.

It wasn't a good performance but it wasn't that bad. Altair would easily beat anyone here and Ratchet (to pull a number out of my butt) would get like...45% against Drake? I think Xenoblade's continuous upswing could make him Ratchet level, and I would take Ratchet over Rosalina I think.

Nathan Drake > Rosalina. Hopefully with his story done people will start to have a little bit of nostalgia for him and look back fondly at his journey. He's an awesome dude.

He 60/40'd Liquid and got 45% on Vivi in 2010, but he also lost to Duke Nukem in 2008 and barely beat Lara Croft while getting rolled by Kefka in 2013.

For what it's worth, getting doubled by Altair would put Shulk around Isaac/Lucario levels if you assume he's around the same strength level in 2008 and 2013.

You're definitely overrating the 'fan favorite' effect here. Every reaction I've had within the gaming community has people overall liking Luigi more than Mario, and we see how that goes in contests. Being an icon matters more, especially with Nintendo characters, and while Peach may be a crappy icon she's still an icon. Rosalina has about a 1% chance of beating her. She's like...a strictly less relevant character than Peach.

Rosalina > Peach because the fanbase seems to like her more feels like way back in 2003 when everyone thought Luigi was more popular than Mario because it seemed like all our friends like Luigi better.

Duke Nukem used to be legit. He beat Gordon and Ike once! Lara was coming off the back of her extremely publicized and popular reboot, and honestly Kefka was just really strong in 2013. Beating Zack and Ryu Hayabusa with ease is kind of nuts when you look at what he used to do.

I think Wrex actually got a minor rally in that match. I remember some outside places linking, and the votals would back that up as well.

Leon's follow up about Luigi and Bowser is a good point. Those two are actually worth being excited about because they've been given a lot opportunity to develop.

I like Rosalina well enough and I'm glad they didn't just leave her behind after the Galaxy games, but she just doesn't have much personality at this point. She needs a significant RPG appearance or a Super Space Princess Rosalina game or something.
