The Superman Punch is just the most boring attempt at a big time game changing move to me. To me it's just like... You got punched in the head. You've gotten punched many times in the head in this match. Why are you so hurt now by this one? It just seems like such a wet fart of a move.

So it's used both fictionally and in MMA, looks pretty cool and was loved when he first debuted it

He overuses it but it's good imo

So thoughts on the Kevin Owens thing. Don't think any of this will actually happen, but I'd like it if it did!

He comes back wearing a mask next week, as "Owen Kevins", or without the mask as Kevin Steen.

He was talking about not having anyone watching his back with Sami injured. Sometime before the PPV, the Shield are taking out Braun 3 on 1, and Owens runs out with a chair or a shotgun or something to make the save. Now Owens and Braun are friends. The only problem with this one is that it does nothing to put Owens in the hunt for the Universal title, as he's Braun's Wingman there.

To that end the Spear as a finish is the problem because the Superman Punch doesn't flow into it

I disagree, actually. There have been a few times where he has hit the punch, kept his momentum, hit the far ropes, and then come back and hit the spear while the guy kinda stumbled around dazed. That's how it should be used, I think.

If you use it that way every time it becomes 619esque imo. Your results may vary on how much that matters I suppose.

I disagree. The 619 is very setup heavy with wrestlers often falling unnaturally into place across the ropes. I don't think a jumping punch should be flooring everybody to begin with, so somebody getting hit with it and stumbling around a bit seems much more natural.

Keep the Superman Punch to that and counters or to break something up in multiman matches and I'm fine with it

You need to stumble in a specific way for a spear to be something that naturally can follow though. Their endpoint needs to fall somewhere close to the center of the ring and they can't stumble into the ropes. They can't fall down. They generally would need to stumble in a way that involves them spinning around.

I'm not saying you can't do it, just that if done every match it starts to look very fake.

To be fair, would it really be any worse than the way wrestlers happen to stand up and stumble around into the SCM or certain moves off the top rope, or even the forearm AJ does? It's still the same general idea... Wrestlers get up "dazed" and just happen to stumble into the range of the person attacking.

Those moves are a lot more flexible with where in the ring you can hit them is the big thing as well as the timing being more loose since there isn't a running start needed.

A guy stumbling to his feet is one thing. A guy stumbling with such a pace and pattern that he always lands dead center and always on pace with Roman bouncing is another.

Eh, I can't agree with that. All of the moves I mentioned require the wrestler to be in a specific range of the other person. When Michaels tuned up the band, the other guy was almost always in the center of the ring. The forearm needs them pretty much in the center. And stuff like missile dropkicks and other such things off the top require the other person being within range of the person performing it. They're all pretty unnatural because it's very... What happens if the wrestler stumbles the other direction away from the corner/ropes/etc. instead of toward it? Yet they never do, unless it's a rare case where the heel rolls out of the ring.

My point is there are a lot of super fake looking moves. That's wrestling.

Michaels didn't always tune up the band though, and he also didn't always lead into it with the same move all that often (yeah he did that forearm into kip up a bit often, but he had a lot of situations that would lead into it). AJ Styles is even further off the mark as he doesn't really have a defined setup for the Forearm he uses with any regularity and basically just does it in a way that naturally fits in the match. Yeah, someone will be in the center 70% of the ring's space at some point, so I can buy the Forearm being used at that point.

I'm not saying there aren't moments where those moves look fake, just that there's kind of a fakeness threshold that I feel those moves are well before and Roman Punching -> Spear with the same stumbling pattern would be beyond (and 619 is further beyond still)

I dont really have much of an issue with MOST of what Braun did last night

But the alignment with Drew and Dolph killed it

If he had destroyed them too instead of celebrating with them, then its actually great IMO

We'll see next week. I could see something playing out where Dolph/Drew try to buddy up with Braun, and he destroys them both because last week was a one time thing, but I doubt Vince would go that route. That wouldn't help Roman in any way, and it's all about the big dog.

That is an interesting point about Owens though. Unless the point of that was to build to his I quit storyline, it serves no purpose.
