I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this who will count the votes, and how.

I knew he was running from listing to Jim Cornette, hadn't been keeping up with the race. I imagine that few people will be surprised to learn that Glenn is a libertarian.

Ahnold is ineligible for not having birth citizenship. But don't worry, the Rock may someday run... although I guess we know how that one would turn out.

Considering he was talking about running as early as 2020, if he managed to get through any primaries and ran against an incumbent Trump, he'd probably win.

Then again, those same people you mentioned earlier would probably be shocked as hell/horrified to learn that Rock actually skews fairly conservative, and would probably run as a Republican if he was given the option. And likely wouldn't be as "progressive" as they'd like to think he would.

I'd imagine that when the Rock's movie career slows down in a couple years he might run for a governor spot.

It'd be pretty funny to see the faces when he ran as a Republican. As somebody pointed out: the members of Hollywood that are not openly Democrats are the Republicans.

The Rock could have his pick of parties, though. And since intraparty presidential incumbent challenges are relatively rare, he'd likely need to run as a Dem in 2020 unless Trump didn't seek re-election (or resigned before that).

Yeah, but Trump only became a Republican because he thought it gave him a better chance of winning. He identified as a Democrat for years, and previously donated to multiple campaign fundraisers for both Bill and Hillary Clinton (and had even invited them to his wedding to Melania). It's part of why so many people thought he might be acting as a sort of Judas Goat to help her win, because they were clearly friends for years.

And he's hardly the only one (Sanders became a Democrat solely for the election, Bloomberg did it to become Mayor of NYC, and so on). It's become fairly trendy lately for politicians to jump ship to whichever party they think gives them a better chance to win without compromising their actual ideology (which is why insults like "Democrat in Name Only" or "Republican in Name Only" are becoming more common).

So it wouldn't be all that jarring for the Rock to try and run as a Democrat (both to capitalize on the strong Liberal bias of Hollywood and so he can run against Trump), while still mostly holding conservative views, and being just as likely (if not more so) to side with Republicans in Congress rather than simply keeping lockstep with Democrats.

Eh, that's what they get for electing Jesse "the Body" Ventura instead of Bobby "the Brain" Heenan.

I never said it was jarring one way for the other, I just said he could have his pick of parties.

As for Republican Trump, he picked his side when he joined in on the Birther movement. And, to the Judas Goat argument, it would certainly explain his slipshod campaign that looked like it was constantly attempting to derail itself... although it wouldn't justify the fact that he was going off-track during the *primaries* when it offered him no real advantage.
