This doesn't look bad, but it feels very generic with a really quippy Aquaman, so it probably is actually bad with a good trailer cut.

It sucks, you can tell they're adapting a lot of the New 52 Johns stuff but with a messed-up tone.

The storyline is generic as FUCK, and some of the CG was off

But not all of the CGI was bad, some shots are very very nice. And I still love Jason Mamoa so I'm gonna have faith he can sell it. At the very least his look is NICE.

Honestly I'm burnt out of the whole cliche/origin story thing. Aquaman doesn't seem as origin storyish, but it's got the "child of two different worlds" angle which is basically his origin story. Shazam is an origin story.

People have internet now, we don't need the origin story anymore. Just throw a few lines of dialogue or a flashback in.

And then do something fucking wacky. Or new. Or anything remotely different. It's not as difficult as they think (okay... disregarding financial logic please). Just have it set further down the line, a few years at best, but at least a year. So the hero is already acquainted with their powers, and we get some nice interactions between characters and villains that already know each other. That already have history, and they can convey that history through intriguing dialogue...

Oh I see the challenge now, sorry DC carry on
