All the involved actors being fired and replaced would be awesome? Disney would probably rather replace some actors than deal with the outrage of keeping Gunn on board.

Where is this outrage you speak of? Where are the masses that were demanding he be fired? Who would be outraged?

Disney made a knee-jerk reaction and fired him without any public outcry. It's very scary that we're at this point where your employer will not even attempt to protect you.

Even here on CE there are tons of members who posted fair next when people were being fired or kicked out of school years ago. Some of us knew this outrage would be weaponized to the point that it would become a common tactic, but most just laughed and mocked the concerns. Well, now here we are, and people are frantically deleting their posts from years and years ago, but its too little too late. And were starting to see special pleading, where people are making excuses for celebrity B, even though they joined the charge to tear down celebrity A. This offensive tweet isnt really offensive because they totally didnt mean it. But that other tweet from that person I dont like? Clearly, they meant that, so hang em. Nope. You cant do double standards without looking like a hypocritical jackass. So, yeah, good luck getting the outrage culture under control. I think that ship has sailed, though. (Note that Im not pointing this message directly at you, but more thinking out loud.)

It's so dumb to fire anyone for what's an obvious series of crude jokes from years ago, especially when they have seemingly decided that was in the past and tried to move past it. They have every right to do it, but they're really just kowtowing to outrage culture most likely. After reading his recent tweets just calling Trump a traitor and just ripping into anyone that supports him, it makes more sense why he became a target. This is the zero tolerance environment that the left has created, and I hope it teaches a lesson to everyone that it's gone too far. A decent, hard working person shouldn't have their career destroyed for their politcial views.

Kinda just reinforces my belief that social media is shit if youre even somewhat edgy and are trying to make a path in the corporate world. Even relatively small companies now will likely comb thru your social media history and judge you. Sucks because I think the platforms have a lot of use depending on your interests and its the main way to draw up support if youre an entrepreneur or artist but its some real shit.

There was a writing I read like... 7 years ago? It was about how there's no such thing as a hero anymore, that people who were considered hero back then would most likely be ostracized into obscurity now because the media and the people are constantly watching. Looking back at it now, it was pretty prophetic. The purpose of the article was obviously to make people more aware that it was starting to happen and would only get worse, that we'd eventually lose any semblance of a role model growing up.
