A batshit insane business model, but at least we got the far superior AMC A-List out of it.

They recently introduced Peak Pricing which allows them to nickel and dime you for more popular movies or showtimes, fees and reasons completely at their discretion.

They randomly raised my rate to 18 a month and limited my account to 3 movies a month so I canceled. I tried to call them to fix it just so I could buy a ticket every day to screw them over, but id be on hold for 40 minutes only for it to abruptly disconnect. Can't wait for them to go under.

Luckily it doesn't effect me much since I live in Alabama so I don't have to worry about large crowds driving up the prices unless it's a Marvel or Star Wars movie, but yeah, it's still pretty shit.

I dont go to the movies at peak times so it doesnt bother me.

And Im not one that has to go to the movies all the time and see every movie. So as long as Im only paying 9.99 a month, and see at least one movie a month, Im still happy. I usually see at least 2-3 a month

It will when you realize they define "peak times" as "12:00 AM Sundays through 11:59 PM Saturdays"

Ive already been to a popular movie on a Saturday afternoon that was almost sold out, after movie pass pushed this change out, and I wasnt charged a peak pricing, nor was my girlfriend.

Sure, if it starts to happen to me, Ill be upset and consider canceling my pass. But Im not worried about it.

I dont see a movie multiple times a week or have to see every single movie like a lot of users on here do. Moviepass is still a nice little date night thing where I can see a movie with my girlfriend in the early/late afternoon, then go to dinner after. If that changes, then Ill just move on with my life

There was an article I was reading from one of those finance sites. Basically this is a new sort of business model. Like 1/4 of companies right now that go public aren't profitable, which is the highest in history.

Basically the idea is you build up a loyal customer base with too-good-to-be-true services or pricing, and then once you have the dominant market share you corner your customers and become a moneymaker.

Yeah, you've clearly never been to a theater if you think the "experience" of children loudly asking dumb questions during an R rated film, and grown ass men laughing at the top of their lungs over the 10th sex jokes is worth the money. Not to mention the 30 minutes of commercials.
