The water brings me back.

Plus its the first time in awhile theres been very big fantasy elements (ice powers and magic hair aren't really that cool).

I really like Shiny.

Well Jemaine is an unstoppable force in his own right and the song sounds very much like it's written for him.

Have you heard the theory that the crab in Shiny is Ursula reincarnated?

I have. It's a fun theory, but a bit of a stretch.

Well Elsa and Anna's parents being Tarzans parents.

I like to believe it.

It's the reason her dad doesn't want her sailing off. He and his friend attempted it and were thrown overboard. His friend didn't survive.

It's a tiny thing that you're not supposed to connect. I just thought it was funny that the ocean is almost treated as Moana's goofy sidekick, but the backstory had it act like...well, the ocean.

Yeah I enjoy theories like that, but I don't really care if they're true or not. But I can definitely imagine that they put in Easter eggs on purpose to hint at such connections.

Yeah, the "ocean" character is the only thing I have problems with the movie. It's either way too helpful or it doesn't do crap to help Moana, not to mention it murderer Moana dad friend.

But it does the animal thing right because of how useless it is. Too many times the animal companion is something very cute and marketable (I thought the pig would've followed Moana journey), but the chicken was funny at how pointless and useless he was.

Just logistically, it makes no sense. If Elsa and Anna's parents were traveling from their home (Arendelle, which is analogous to Norway) to Corona (analogous to the Baltic region between German and Poland), a trip that wasnt going to take very long even in a sailing vessel (they said they'd be back in two weeks), there's no believable way for them to get shipwrecked and wind up in the central African forest.

Back on-topic, Moana ended up edging out Frozen as my favorite modern Disney film. Auli'i Cravalho impressed the hell out of me. The heart and vulnerability she gave to the character were incredibly mature takes for a 14-year old rookie actress.

It would have been awesome if Bowie had lived and they could have talked him into playing Tamatoa.

There's an actual city in Norway called Arendal. I didn't know it was for real they were going to Corona? I thought that was also a fan theory. But anyway, just because the places are analogous it doesn't mean the world map in that universe is analogous.

Finished it an hour or so ago. I really appreciate that Moana didnt have a love interest. One of the few movies as far as I know besides Mulan where romance or a kiss doesn't happen.

I dislike how fast the all is lost moment is turned around in the second attempt. Which is why I feel the coconuts are wasted time, but I'm being nitpicky.

In Mulan romance does happen a little bit, although it's more like an afterthought than anything else.

I found it weird as an adult how Chang is falling for her as a man. That smile on his face after he gets swept in "I'll make a man out of you".

You're right.
