By "any good" I mean, like, don't be an FF hater who hates everything that isn't 6 or 8...

But still strict enough to know if it's actually good.

It's a solid game, though the storytelling is beyond awful. Which is a shame because the pieces are there but they're just not put together very cohesively. Could've been one of the best stories in the FF series.

I've had several friends who've purchased it and enjoy it on PC.

Obviously as a "1337_FF_GoD" I won't ever touch a Final Fantasy game again because it exists and returned it after playing the tutorial.

I'm not gonna tell you it's amazing or anything, but I did enjoy it. It's also one of the few games I platinumed for what it's worth.

I didn't much care for the DLC though, mostly because it just explains things that were jarringly absent from the main game to begin with. And they were pretty darn short. Ignis' DLC was pretty dope though, even if, once again, it just told a story that I was really annoyed was cut from the main game.

the game is characterized by some pretty big highs and lows. The plot had a lot of potential and whats going on is really neat but its delivered badly. The gameplay is fun and entertaining but could have been a lot deeper and better than what they released. The open world is a thing but its frontloaded early into the game and then youre rail roaded hard through the remaining like 9/15 chapters with a ton of story events happen off screen. Its also incredibly shallow with only one real city and a bunch of gas stations. The end of the game is pretty well delivered and made up for its trash pacing though. I really like the game when I played it but was kind of frustrated because I could see the potential for masterpiece 5/5 in the game instead of the 4/5 we did get.

if you ignore the story, what very little of it there is, then it's a decent open world Japanese game with an American female mechanic with weird plastic tits

It's been loaded on my ps4 since it came out (pre-ordered it)...but i have never gotten past the first gas station area.

Played about an hour or two then went for a drive at night and got slaughtered...and never got back to it.

Well, i'll ask some other questions

1. Does it have anything to do with Final Fantasy (IE: outside of mere cameos like a Chocobo or a Moogle)

2. Is the battle system stimulating and complex? (Even though FF13 was not-stimulating, it was complex due the layers of resistances/status effectics and paradigm shifting)

1. what does this even mean. None of the FFs have anything in common other than cameos like chocobos/summons/spell names.

2. No. That's basically the problem. The gameplay is really simple. Theres not much to do with it and it gets boring once the novelty of warping wears off.

WEll, basically - pretend it's not called Final Fantasy - it's called, mmm, Bros in a Car Souls (Namco). If you were playing would you go "hey, this really feels like a Final Fantasy and not in any way any other franchise"

People define what it means to be Final Fantasy in different ways so uh I cant answer that question for you. The whole bros in a car meme is pretty overblown. It felt like a final fantasy game to me.

Well nothing really matters in the scheme of things. You have to add value yourself.

This exactly. There was room for depth, but there was little reason to explore it. Also didn't like how items were so abundant. Sure you can tell me not to use them. But that's like hitting the game over button by myself, just to create my own difficulty. Doesn't really add to the tension. Definite need for balance there.

It meant that using them didnt really change the damage or have anything more than a visual impact.

Honestly, it's probably one of the worst in the series. Not even comparing it to other FF games. It's just not good.

If you like good stories, interesting characters, and things that are not extremely tedious, you will hate this game.

The enemies had specific weaknesses to exploit that could pile on extra damage including different weapon types. You can see this if you scan them.

It's alright. They are still adding things to it though and the base game seems unfinished because well... it was.
Still I enjoyed the gameplay. Although with it being a arpg it was more Kingdom Hearts then Final Fantasy on that front.

It was meh to me. Didnt care for the majority of the characters and the gameplay was kind of dull. The option to have music from previous FF games play was nice though.

Am hoping XVI will be a lot better.

This.

Combat isn't that great.
It would've been much better if they made the combat more like Kingdom Hearts or more like a traditional FF game. Instead we got this weird ARPG hybrid where you just hold down certain buttons...

The game was unfinished when I played through it too. I'm not sure how much the updates or dlc helped make the game better.
With that said, I enjoyed my time with it.
I liked the idea of a small group of people on a road trip, and the locations/creatures were interesting imo.
(Plus awful flying car at the end lol.)
