i wouldn't use Bartz over Cloud, but you need to replace Onion Knight. Onion Knight USB literally does nothing in your current party except haste. just make sure you get Zack's chain up ASAP.

Onion Knight is way too useful to drop. You forgot about Onion Knight's crit % boost which helps with Zack's crit damage+, also Chris has OK's LMR so ditching OK means losing instant haste and wall. No to mention the cast time reduction on physical moves along with his doublecast celerity let's him build chain really fast with Ripping Blast.

Cloud USB gives 100% crit already, so it only helps Zack's damage. instant wall is not needed at all and Bartz will do way more damage than OK plus the slight extra from Zack.

That's assuming if Bartz replaces Cloud as main DPS where the crit % boost is more important for him. And Onion Knight still does respectable damage, nigh instant 5/10 hits maxes out the chain pretty quick, he doesn't need meter or any other soul breaks.

yes but Cloud with USB1+2 and Zack CSB is the best DPS in the whole game, even better in a fight like this where it's so easy to run into the damage cap on other characters. glint isn't quite as good as USB2 but good enough for the Zack+Cloud combo to easily be the best thing here.

I have Onion Knight use Dispel for Golem and Protectga for Midgardsormr, Ripping Blast for both (I used to use Raging Storm before Ripping Blast came out on Golem)

Cloud's a meter hog though in order for him to get that high (also I think Chris doesn't have Cloud's USB2) While Bartz only needs his USB1/Glint and his quickcasts from them to build chain like mad and cap soon, and while he can't break the cap like Cloud he's chucking out capped crit Snowspell Strikes with Ripping Blast support from Onion Knight and Zack and Dash and Slash from Rikku (Golem) or Vaan (Midgardsormr) Aerith USB2 might make Cloud's DPS better but even if I had it I'd still prefer Rosa in this fight in order to avoid the status effects, with 4 DPS this makes sub25 Midgardsormr runs consistent while Cloud as the sole DPS can get screwed over by slow, interrupts or paralyze while if someone one of my 4 DPS somehow gets status effected the other 3 can cover and still get the sub30.

You definitely want to use the chain before the imperil, although it's definitely still worth using the imperil. The problem is OK's pUSB doesn't have synergy with Zack's chain because the attack buffs overwrite each other. If you have Edge's SSB2 I'd use him instead of OK with ninja wind abilities. But putting the chain before the imperil is probably enough to get you below 30 with no other changes.

Edit: also I wouldn't bother with both Cloud's Glint and BSB, just use one or the other and put all the rest of your SB bars into his USB.

Got all the motes off the wall with my Darkness team. Slight tweak in that I brought Sazh for Astra + Affliction Break (not even sure that works but whatever-- I'm pretty sure Astra blocked blind once at least and I think Ultimate Wail is actually considered a status effect cause it missed on two guys when he used it late)

Dark Cecil is pretty broken against the wall since it doesn't really do enough damage to bring his shield down ever and the wall can be pushed back mid dualcast.

An even 15 pushbacks. Bless Sephiroth's Burst entry evasion being able to avoid the Demon Wall's ultimate attack. He tanked 2 of them because of the evasion working, and just managed to push him back one last time before the third ultimate attack finally ate him.

Okay so I didn't use protect and Zack died (maybe should have just given OK protect and had him be useless dps wise instead of giving him wind to charge the meter maybe!) BUT I still beat it in 28 seconds so hooray Cloud doing Cloud things.

Now the next question I have to ask myself can Bartz with the earth BSB, AOSB, and USB 2 solo the Lightning one <_<. I ... literally do not know if I have other earth relics.

You're probably going to need a couple of Sandworms before you fight Hydra, I don't think solo Bartz is enough since you have to deal with all those imperils Hydra will be stacking so you need to kill it before it kills you.

Also to all those poo-pooing Onion Knight I almost got my first sub20 on Midgardsormr (in fact I probably would have if I used Ripping Blast instead of refreshing OK's USB for the EX mode.)



And that's with him using Fujin's BSB as a weapon, I could probably constantly sub20 if RNG wasn't a bitch and I got Bartz's Man Eater so Onion Knight can use that instead.

jesus i was not poo-pooing Onion Knight. he's basically perfect in any non-chain or gen-1 chain party that doesn't contain Cloud. he's simply not compatible with Cloud at all, and not really needed with a gen-2 chain.

finished the demon wall thing. did 90k damage after pushing it 16 times. unfortunately Yuffie's AOSB was mostly wasted on that 16th push. though even if i got the 17th it wouldn't have gotten me the gil, so no big deal.

It's a peeve when people say OK's pUSB is useless with gen 2 chains around or even with Zack's chain (which I still don't get, just because the attack buffs don't stack people disregard the % crit buff which does way more damage than something than a dual attack buff would and the attack softcap easy enough to reach anyway with 4* magicite buffs and ex modes) And that declining quick cast on his EX mode is also oddly ignored for some reason when it's pretty much a free Gathering Storm, his dualcast celerity is pretty much tailored to Ripping Blast (and the upcoming electric version) especially since doublecasts count towards the increased hit count. Amazing entruster with wrath and Lifesiphon counting as physical moves in his ex mode and he's a decent ninja too.

He's not even that bad with Cloud since with he's going to have Mako Might and go first, especially with the LMR. Even if you need to refresh haste for some reason in this speedkill meta you can have him use his BSB or Hastaga to prevent having his crit buff from overwriting Cloud's.

I didn't pull on the Lucky Draw since I'm saving up for the next fest (especially since Realms on Parade is supposed to be start early September, and 15/T0/Tactics are going to be seperate now) I did 100 gem Fran's Legend Materia from the Crystal Tower, but since everything is immune to interrupt these days it's basically useless.

Ugh the FF12 neo torment is tomorrow as well... at least we'll also have Vortex with it.

Instant KO resist doesn't stop Black Fang. Basically the trick to that fight is you just sacrifice a character - you can control which character dies because Black Fang always targets the one with the lowest HP%, so you basically just need to hit a character with one attack and have your healer heal whoever Shadow Dragon attacks. It's good to bring someone who can do something useful for the first few turns and then die (an entruster is good for this).

I started with Chain Thundaja r4, since I'll be using it on Zodiark. I'll pick up r4 Voltech after I do the first 2 difficulties. I need 50 more rubies, which I'm confident I will get.

The worst thing about the name Voltech is how lazy it is. Like, they HAVE to have consciously decided not to call it Vortex (right?) but instead of trying to come up with a better name they just go with a nonsense transliteration.

Anyway, XII torment is tough. I got like 33s or so on the 280, so I'm going to have to figure out how to get that one down to 30 with no good XII banners to draw on. Voltech wouldn't even help in this fight because Ashe's Chain Thundagas are doing 4x9999 from the very beginning. Chain Thundaja would help, but only if I hone it to R5 (because of Ashe's USB rank chase) and I'm not sure I want to invest the orbs. I'm really wishing (again) I'd gotten Ashe's arcane with my 5 pulls on that last fest banner.

I'm black crystal broke though. I stayed up late Monday so I could carry over 200 stamina to the daily dungeon change then used the stamina refreshes from the Realm dungeon update to get some more (I screwed up and lost stamina because I forgot to bring breakdowns against the elite dungeons though >_< Wish they'd get rid of those medals like everything else these days) Stayed up late again to try and squeeze one more daily dungeon run and thankfully I ran into two magic pots to get 210 black crystals. It really sucked that there was no Black Crystals in last week's events.

Still Ysayle will appreciate it when Typhon and torment Ultima Weapon come.

That new FF11 banner just got looks pretty good, we're all probably going to have to pull on it anyway since most FF11 stuff is too dated for neo Torments and FF11 events are the rarest. It's so weird that Prishe has 2 USBs since I think the last FF11 event came out when USBs were still young.

My meltdown's still r4. I didn't do dailies much before the 1 Crystal guarantee since I spent my stamina torment farming major orbs before so most of those black crystals were from events.

yeah i didn't do crystal dailies much before the 1 guaranteed, either, because i hadn't farmed torments before that so i needed to do orb dailies instead. but i have gone pretty hardcore for black crystals since they were guaranteed; saved 3 stamina potions in mailbox, 4 in chocobo, and 5 held for that first Tuesday of guaranteed black crystals, plus i saved 6 stamina shards from the previous dungeon update for 2 more refreshes. that first day alone i got around 35, and it's been almost 20 per week since then.

I managed to sub-30 the D280, on the first attempt no less (Ashe with USB+Chain Thundaja rocks), but it was super close (29 seconds).
I instantly bought and r4'd Voltech. I'm now at 91 Black Crystals.

170 rubies left before attempting the bullshit difficulty, where I may, or may not, get to 50%. I don't think I'll r5 any of the current 6* spells anytime soon. Maria with her USB wants that Chain Stoneja, and with doublecast, I think that's the one I should r5, if any.

I'm hesitating fighting the new torment since I think I may do a pull on the FF12 banner tonight, I don't feel comfortable with the characters since the only have 1 FF12 USB and legend dive with Vaan and everything except the bursts would help. Though Fran is pretty much useless outside of the this torment and Cid Missions and I already have Rikku's USB so Basch wouldn't get much use beyond this either which is making me reluctant to pull.

I do have the USB1 (ironically I also got it on the banner it debuted on) Once I master it I'm gonna see how fast I can kill Midgardsormr with it since Vaan gets dagger damage boosts from his legend dive so he has to keep using the air knife (and now that Onion Knight doesn't have to use Fujin's BSB weapon anymore.)

Also cool is that I got another wind weapon for Cloud & Zack so now they don't have to fight over Dorgann's sword for the next torment.

Cloud and Zack's weapons have RS wind boost so you they wouldn't need to fight over Dorgann's sword for the torment either way (unless you don't have Cloud's USB1 or Zack CSB, in which case why are you using them?)
