An FBI Agent at a BAR in Colorado was seen dancing in the middle of a crowd before doing BACKFLIPS..but suddenly his gun falls off his waist and as he goes to pick it up, it SHOOTS into the crowd and hits a man's leg!!

It happened at 12:45am as paramedics were called to the scene and escorted the man to the hospital who had a bullet wound to his leg as doctors said he will be fine..

Video ofthe incident was captured by eyewitnesses and later uploaded to the internet as the clips showing the FBI agent BUSTING A MOVE at Mile High Spirits Distillery and Tasting Bar...about 10 seconds into the film, he was seen doing a backflip of which his gun falls out of his back of his waistband

When he goes to retrieve it, the gun goes off leaving onlockers shocked and mortified

The off-duty agent was at a night cllub when his firearm became dislodged from his waistband holster and fell onto the floor

The agent was then seen nonchalantly walking off the dance floor appearing NOT to be concerned that his weapon was just discharged

Julie, who took the video said she couldn't believe what she just witnessed and said everyone was shocked at what happened because the agent put his gun away and walked off like nothing happened

He was taken to Denver Police HQ and was released to an FBI supervisor as the DA will review the case and determine if charges will be brought upon him

Have you seen an FBI agent irl before?

The topic title has me picturing his gun going off in mid-flip and blasting some unfortunate clubgoer.

I've watched it like 5 times now and it looks like he pulled the trigger, all right.

Either disoriented from the backflip, drinking, or both, but either way... dude needs to be seriously reprimanded for his lack of gun safety negligence. (Let's start with doing backflips with a gun in your belt, buddy. Shit isn't even holstered.)

It should be engraved into every gun ownr's head not to put the finger anywhere near the trigger unless he/she has intentions to shoot.

He shouldn't have the gun when he was drinking, a reprimand is necessary.

Besides violating this basic gun safety rule, is it also possible the safety was loose? My only experience with guns are with .22 bolt-action rifles that we use in Boy Scouts and I've seen some where the safety is loose and some where they're tight.

It's not a drop safety issue, it's a dumbass picking up a gun by the trigger issue.

Glocks don't have traditional safeties. He shouldn't have had his finger in the trigger guard though.

Same reason you don't want a drunk person driving. Even if a situation arose where using a gun would be justifiable, being drunk means he's not going to be able to do so safely.

Wasnt he drinking, though? And even so, just drinking while you have your gun isnt always bad. Chances are, you probably wont have to use it. I will say he should have had it holstered, though...

In which case, there's no reason to have it. Basically, either he won't have to use it and there's no point in having it around (which always presents the risk of having it fall or be grabbed by someone), or he will have to use it but won't be able to do so safely because of his impaired motor control. Therefore, it's just better overall to not have it.

Now, that's presuming he intends to drink enough to be drunk. Much like driving, if he were only planning to have one or two drinks over the course of a few hours, he'd probably be fine. If he's doing backflips on the dance floor, though, I have my doubts that he was that sober.

It's not illegal to have your car keys on you when drunk so it shouldn't be illegal to have your gun holstered while drunk.

It is pretty pointless, though. Whether it's legal or not, it's not a good idea, given the potential risks and utter lack of benefit.

Having your car keys can get you charged assuming you are anywhere near your car while drunk so...

It is illegal to bring a gun into a bar (establishment that makes 51+% of revenues) in Texas regardless of what permits you may hold or whether or not you are drinking. Texas is pretty fast and loose with gun laws so I'd be surprised to find out this is legal in other places.

Certainly puzzling that an FBI agent would pick up his gun by the trigger, pretty fundamental mistake in gun handling regardless of what type of safety is present or not present on the gun.

That's why gun safety 101 is "treat every gun as if it's loaded and ready to fire" oh and "never put ypur finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot". Dude should be fired.

But if he does need it and he's drunk, he's not going to be able to effectively use it anyway. That's a plausible justification for carrying in general, but where he was (presumably) planning to drink? He really shouldn't be considering using it.
