Well, I specifically said single-case defendants

or at least I did at one point during that post

either way I wasn't counting 1-1 Larry there

also Lamiroir technically isn't a single-case character but she has an absurd amount of lines for a witness, especially considering it's a non-epic case and she beat out Bikini's line count from 3-5

I think a big part of it is that 4-3's cast is rather small for such a long case and the lines have to go to somebody

Anyway, place your bets on who has more lines in 4-4 between Apollo and Phoenix.

I'm looking at my time data to see if either character has significantly more screen time than the other, and Apollo's section of the case is only ten minutes longer than Phoenix's.

still gonna lean Apollo simply because having a sidekick will give him more line opportunities

I remain surprised by AJ's line counts in general. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but still! Maybe I should replay this the next time I replay the trilogy, gotta figure out why it took me so much less time than JFA or T&T.

I'd place my bets on Apollo having more lines than Phoenix, yeah. It certainly felt like he had considerably more trial time (and not that much less investigation) but if you say it's within 10 minutes, then yeah it probably will be close.

And yeah I'm pretty sure I counted the testimony where Lamiroir interprets for Machi as Machi's.

I dunno. AJ clocked in as the shortest game in the series for me, too. My guess is that there's less "fluff" and not as many long monologues in AJ. There's more back and forth between the characters.

Still, they're clocking in at similar line counts to cases that are of similar lengths of time in my data.

I'm a little surprised by how talkative Klavier is but I guess you talk to him quite a bit outside of court and he's especially involved in this particular case.

Oh, and my bet is on Phoenix having the most lines in 4-4, by juuust a hair.

My guess on lines in 4-4 is that it's gonna be Phoenix > Apollo > Judge > Trucy > Klavier > Valant > Brushel > Zak > other people

Hmmm maybe I'm wrong about Phoenix. I dunno. But the Mason system investigation is just soooo long, and 4-0 is longer than trial day 2. Trial day 1 is a reasonable length, but Apollo's investigation is also very short, and part of it includes Phoenix at the start! I dunno. Gut feeling tells me that Mason system is just so much longer than everything else and that puts it over the edge.

it's always struck me as weird that Vera's dialogue is centered/indented on the text box as opposed to being left-aligned like everyone else's

makes me wonder if it's supposed to be indicative of some unusual way of speaking

like how I assume that Drew's voice shakes/trembles a lot when he talks because the screen shakes a lot when he's speaking

Just realized that after one segment, Trucy and Ema are virtually tied in line count now, and I was wondering which one of them will end up with more overall. Trucy will end up with more by the end of AJ. Ema's not in DD at all, obviously, but Trucy's line count there won't be that high either, so I don't know how much that will help her. Ema's got a pretty big role in SoJ overall, and Trucy mostly just has 6-2 and the beginning of 6-5. I'd guess Ema will end up with more in the end, but I think it'll be close.

I finally got around to playing through Turnabout Time Traveler and getting both the Asinine Attorney Cases.

I thought Apollo's Asinine Attorney was more entertaining than Phoenix's Asinine Attorney.

Also, I'm not much of a person that's into getting Console Themes but the Pixel Art Themes you can download from the Asinine Attorney cases are adorable and a nice little bonus.

I like the Khura'in Theme. It has "Khura'inese Towns ~ A Rambling Travel" playing in the background and I like when you move the cursor on the bottom screen, you see Phoenix and Nahyuta pointing at each other with Rayfa dancing in the middle doing the Dance of Devotion while you see Ahlbi and Shah'do in the Pool of Souls. You also see other characters from the first case show up on the top screen while you scroll along that shows them in the Khura'in city. Cute stuff. When you make a selection, you hear Phoenix say "Take That!"

The other theme you get is based on The Magical Turnabout. "It's show time" plays in the background and characters that appeared in the case appear on the top screen with the magic show on stage. The bottom screen has Athena and Trucy with Apollo in the middle inside the coffin. Moving the cursor causes the coffin to close and open the top lid to make Apollo disappear/reappear. Too cute. When you make a selection, you hear Apollo say "Take That!"

Turnabout Time Traveler was a fun case except for the long animations of Ellen and Sorin. I kinda got a little annoyed by their long animations but got over it. It was nice to see the return of Larry and Maya tagging along with Phoenix once again to solve the case. It was also cool to see Edgeworth prosecute and doing what he does best.
The culprit was really something. I liked the breakdown and I kinda felt a little bad for the culprit afterward. Nice ending.

4-4 trial day 1 complete, which means 4-0 is next, ugh. I'll give it its own stat sheet on the list, but I'll still combine it with 4-4's overall totals. Here's what we're looking at after the first day to see what Phoenix needs (although Apollo still gets trial day 2):

1. Apollo Justice - 557
2. Trucy Wright - 331
3. Spark Brushel - 163
4. Ema Skye - 136
5. The Judge - 130
6. Klavier Gavin - 115
7. Phoenix Wright - 55
8. Vera Misham - 55
9. Valant Gramarye - 48
10. Other - 10
11. The Amazing Mr. Hat - 1

Vera already has more lines than Machi, so his record is safe.

there are a couple of weird things about the beginning of 4-0

First, Phoenix acts like it's odd that he's jumping into a case blind and only became the attorney the day before the trial. I mean, I sorta get it, because he didn't get to investigate and Zak told him exactly nothing, but still.

But speaking of Zak, it's weird that he gives off the impression that he respects Phoenix (at least based off of the card game), but he ruined the guy's life once and tried to ruin it a second time.

Yeah, everything surrounding Magnifi's suicide is really good, including the final twist that it was in fact a suicide.

Also it's kinda weird to me that they talk about diabetes and cancer here because I think this is the only case where serious diseases like that are ever even mentioned. It's like it's obvious that they exist here, too, but they almost seem like "mundane" details in the Ace Attorney universe.

Yeah, that's true. They went to the effort to make up a disease in the previous case and then used two real ones in 4-0. I mean, I guess in the case of Incuritis, they had to use a fictitious disease since Borginian cocoons are also fictitious, but they could've made up something for Magnifi, too.

Also, Gumshoe's numbers are now final, at least until AA7...!

I have actually been wondering this: Who is the most likely character from the original trilogy to make a return in AA7? Since Maya mentions Gumshoe by name in 6-6 I kind of feel like maybe we haven't seen the last of him and he could show up again.

I would say Franziska would be cool to see again but it's really hard to bring back old prosecutors since there isn't a lot of space for them and we gotta have a new one.

Well, Franziska could show up as a cameo and not necessarily as a prosecutor if she's still working with Interpol at this point. She could be a source of information, maybe even as a witness for a big flashback case or something. I'm not sure who else they'd bring back other than those two at this point if they do bring someone back unless it's just someone totally random like Will Powers. I guess they could have Maya channel Mia or something, but that seems unlikely now if they didn't have her do it in SoJ.

Also, they don't seem to want to cross wires with the AAI games too much, so I doubt we'd see Kay or anyone like that.

I think they've moved on from Mia entirely at this point which is good - the characters are older now and no longer need her guidance, it wouldn't serve much of a purpose.

I dunno, I just feel like they would try to slip at least one old character back into the mix, although I guess there aren't too many mainstays who haven't shown up again. It's just Gumshoe and Franziska. (And Mia sort of.)

Oh I'm surprised by how few lines Valant had there. I'm wrong about Valant > Brushel for sure.

You know, after replaying 4-0, I'm actually starting to think it might be Klavier's best showing. He's probably the best part of that thing, along with Valant's "Alakazaaaaaaaugh" damage reactions. He's clearly a rookie and Phoenix frequently gets the better of him because he makes basic oversights, but he's quick on his feet and his heart is in the right place when it comes to nailing Phoenix for forged evidence, even if he has the wrong target.

Also, I'm wondering if Klavier stepped away from prosecuting after 4-0 until 4-2. The resolution of the case clearly bothered him, and the Judge mentions at the beginning of 4-2 that he'd been away from the prosecutor's bench for a while, although he doesn't specify how long. 4-0 seems to be for him what 3-4 was for Mia.

you know sometimes I wonder what would've happened to Trucy if Zak had stuck with Kristoph as his attorney

maybe she would've turned out to be an evil magician like every other Gramarye
