She took great care to avoid ever being convicted in a court of law, which she succeeded in, but was convicted in the court of public opinion, which is more important for a politician. As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!

Note that the legal scholars he is referencing argue that the moment a president pardons themself, they need to be impeached on the spot. And those are conservative legal scholars.

In more detail, the constitution charges the president with faithfully executing the law. The moment one pardons themself, they are no longer being faithful to the law. And the unitary executive theory that he is referencing explicitly says that any abuse of the pardoning power should result in impeachment. But he'll just ignore that crucial piece.

Because the Colorado Civil Rights Administration attacked him based on his beliefs, not his actions.

Based purely on my understanding of the laws, I agree with this ruling, even though I ethically abhor it.

there were artists who made both rock and roll and R&B in the '50s, like elvis, but that doesn't mean the terms are synonymous. it's like how usher makes both R&B songs (in the contemporary sense) and hip hop songs. doesn't mean R&B is the same as hip hop.

It's also very easy to just say he's a swing artist.

Anyway, my main point is that black artists were limited to being on Rhythm and Blues labels, which had a lot of genre overlap with music on other labels that were basically the same, but just performed by white people. A lot of R&B history follows that, with genres more often needing to be a subset of R&B to include both white and black artists.

Contemporary R&B being different from old R&B is like modern rock being different from Rock and Roll. But Rock and Roll and early rock was pretty much the same, stylistically, as R&B anyway.

tl;dr rock and R&B are such wide umbrellas with the same origins that you might as well discount them as genres altogether.

The name basically comes from the idea that music, which was almost universally influenced by the blues, tended to be more upbeat, ie. have more rhythm.

So, upbeat blues with a heavy backbeat.

Rock Around the Clock is exactly that.

Here's another way of looking at things - is Michael Jackson a rock, pop, or R&B artist? Is he all 3? What's the difference? Where do you draw the lines?
