Yes. I drove a manual for 13 years. And the skill has actually come in handy during two emergency situations.

Yes. I prefer it actually unless it is in ridiculous traffic.

when im in bumper-to-bumper traffic i play the "lets see how long we can go without touching the brakes" game and just coast, like semi trucks do.

I do, but I find it to be too much effort over long periods of time so I prefer automatic.

I think it's important for people to know how in case of emergency though. You never know.

I do, and I'm actually a little depressed that automatic transmission technology has advanced to the point where manuals offer no benefit outside of driver interaction. Almost 15 years ago, ZF developed an automatic transmission that shifts faster than a human can possibly shift a manual, and it's been getting better since then.

Time and tech march on, and I will miss the manual.

My first vehicle was my dads 91 Toyota Hilux as a hand me down, so learned to drive manual on that.

My current ride (2016 Chevy Colorado) is also a manual though thats more because they didnt have any automatics left on the lot and was able to get a decent deal on the manual

The first car I drove was a stick shift. Now if one of my friends are moving and rent something with I stick I'm the ho to driver!!! As long as I don't have to park. I can't park an automatic.

Manual is usually always cheaper. Go to car website and "build" a new car. You'll see that adding automatic increases the price a good thousand dollars or so.

ZF is one of the world's largest manufacturers of transmissions, auto and stick. They make all of the ones for Audi, Porsce, BMW, Mercedes, the Mustang, the Ford GT, etc.

I saw a statistic here where I live once, that 96% of the people who take their driving test, take the stick shift exam. I know the US is like the opposite though.

Pretty much, just KBBed my truck and the automatic has $1,000 more value than the manual

I've only been driving for a couple of years and never touched a manual. I want to learn though for emergency purposes but as of now I have no freaking clue. I'm really not interested in them for everyday driving as it's just more unnecessary work and I prefer to have my full attention on the road.

I do not. When I was learning to drive, my dad had a manual truck. He wouldn't let anyone use it without him, so he was the one "teaching" me. Which basically involved him sitting there and telling me to drive, then cussing me every time I grinned a gear or stalled the engine. After getting home he'd slap me around for damaging the gears. After that, I refused to learn with him, and I didn't have anyone else to teach me, so yeah.

I could learn now, and I want to, but it'd be in his car so I'm not going to even try.

Hate driving automatics tbh.

Also everyone should know how partly cause its easy and partly cause of emergencies. Like the time I cut my hand terribly badly at work and had to drive myself to the hospital cause buddy I worked with couldn't drive stick. He literally came with me just to ensure I didn't pass out or go into shock.
