Season 2 of Selena Gomez's controversial Netflix show 13 Reasons Why is causing controversy over a disturbing MALE RAPE SCENE but the creator is standing by the graphic footage of a male character being sodomized by a broken mop!!

After already receiving backlash on the graphic depiction of Hannah Baker's suicide in the first season that begins with a PSA with the show's actors that warns the series of real life issues facing teenagers, including sexual assault and school shooting storylines.

But once again it's causing controversy after viewers were shown a scene involving a gay student being brutally beaten and raped by 3 athletes

The loner is shunned by his so called friends and sent to a behavioural rehabprogramafter he gets caught vandalizing the school baseball field..that's when he is viciously sexually assaulted out of revenge.

The disturbing scene was shown to viewers as people are slamming the gruesome scene which they was disgusting and unnecessary and the PTA is issuing an urgent warning about the show about teens who give reasons to commit SUICIDE and are calling for the show's cancellation that are giving teens the wrong message

Show creator, Brian Yorkey defended this inclusion stating "We are committed on this show to telling truthful stories about things that young people go through in as unflinching a way as we can"

The storyline came from research on real life cases of male on male sexual violence in high school and said to include this was supported by Netflix and Paramount which produces the show.

The scene had mixed reaction from the public as viewers said it was too much for them to handle and said it was unnecessary and violent while others said it's a reality that people can't ignore.

Are you offended that they showed this graphic scene for viewers?

While I'm not saying that it never happens, but they're clearly playing it up as being far, far more common than it might ever happen.

Kinda wonder what happened in his past that he thinks this is a regular event.

In what universe? A hazing involving a spoon shoved in somebody's ass got national headlines and that's a helluva lot smaller (in every sense) than a broom.

Nothing surprising here-female rape=standard TV/movie plot, male rape=scary and too far. Next.

tbh the first season was already a bit too graphic. But really, I think the general plot is a lot more damaging than the particularly graphic scenes. Still, I remember finding the first season strangely compelling, even amidst all the problems I had with it.

There was a boy who got sodomized around here just last year. I think it happens more than you think, the last one was less than five years ago. I would hardly call it one of the real issues facing teenagers, however. The jock gay/rapey stuff is far more tame (and unbelievably common). It is usually dudes being peer pressured into weird group jacking sessions or seeing how many dudes you can stuff into a shower.

I feel like this show is intentionally controversial, but I don't think that specific situation is too uncommon. Some kid got 'tampooned' in the showers after wrestling practice at my school. Basically he was held down while a tampon was shoved in his butt. Apparently there was no reasoning except that the perpetrators thought it would be funny. No bigotry or anything, just being disgusting human beings for a few ha has
