I wear contacts. I have the kind that you can wear for a week+ straight and sleep in them. Lasik seems unnecessary at this point.

I have, but the price is puting me off.

I'm not American so pricing really is an issue here. It costs about 2.5 months of my salary.

How much did they cost

Don't 100% remember, but my insurance through work covered all but 50 bucks for a years supply. I think it would have covered all but 20 or 30 with the standard contacts

Damn, LASIK is suppose to be low risk so your friend's brother was really unlucky there.

I only wear glasses part time (and not as often as I should) but Ive definitely already looked into it considering I hate having stuff on my face and my eyes will definitely get worse.

Look into sleepable contacts. I have pretty sensitive eyes but only have to take them out once a week or so, sometimes longer.

That can cause several visual problems apparently, I think I look better with glasses as well. Well-sighted people miss out on a fashion accessory tbh

I totally would if it didn't cost so much. Although to be fair, I haven't had an evaluation so I don't know how much it would cost, but even if it's just a grand, that's still a lot for me at this point in my life.

I have. It's like $3000 and the most popular place that does it here offers interest free financing on it...but I'm terrified that I'll be in the extreme minority of people who lose their vision permanently from it.

I am -28 in the left eye and -27 in the right.

I wear ultra-thin glasses and a pair costs me 2000.

I wear contacts most of the time, but if lasik were affordable I'd totally do it. I have no idea what it costs or what insurance would cover.

I wear glasses and contacts. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on lasik. Contacts are expensive and a pain in the ass. For some reason, glasses tire my eyes out if I wear them while working on a computer all day.

My prescription has been stable for a few years now, so it should be an OK time to go for it. I've heard rumors that your vision gets bad again after 15 years or so, but haven't look into that.

Lasik is safe by the numbers but that number is not 100%, and since it's my eyes I'm never going to chance it. I am fine with contacts and glasses.

Plus lasik basically resets your eyes and isn't a permanent fix. Your eyes can still continue to degrade and you'll need to do it again or just go right back to glasses/contacts later down the road.
