once a day. and in the morning. i know some people do it at night.

Morning is better, because you sweat at night even if you don't realize it. So people who shower at night are less hygienic the next day than people who shower in the morning.

That being said, some people who shower at night do it because it helps relax them so they can sleep, so you have to weigh that into the equation as well. And you also have people who mostly shower at night because their schedules make it hard for them to shower in the morning for whatever reason.

Every day during warmer months because I sweat and feel gross. Every other day during cold months. I still wash my hair every day though, even if I don't shower. I don't like the way my scalp feels if it doesn't get washed every day.

That's actually bad for your hair, though. You're only supposed to wash your hair every couple of days, or you start to dry it out and wind up with brittle hair and split ends.

To anybody who showers everyday and washes their hair, you don't have to unless you're really a dirty person.
It feels great to not need one and it saves time. It's an awkward feeling 2 or 3 weeks, but then your body adjusts. My hair actually feels cleaner on its second day, and I wash it on its fourth night.
So, just saying, if you shower out of habit, it can be broken. It'll feel...gross but your body adjusts.

I'd like to see your water bill

Every day for work days. Maybe every other day for days off. My hair gets greasy after a day and I can't stand the feeling. A lot of times I'll just wash my hair if I'm short on time.

Isn't showering once or twice every single day bad for your skin in the long run or something?
I mean, isn't there like oils and shit that protects the skin(which constantly get washed away by the frequent showers)?

Well I'll have to disagree. Walking outdoors, being at work and just generally being exposed to the outside makes a person sweat and dusty at times. So that accumulates in the scalp and skin and all that so for me, I need to shower and wash my hair daily. I need to feel fresh daily when I get to work. There's also the oil accumulating in my scalp and hair so it's a no-no.

Cleanliness degrades within hours and you need not be a very dirty person to require to shower daily.

I have never had a problem with split ends. Back when my hair was long, down below my shoulder blades I would get compliments on how great my hair looked. People wanted to kow which shampoo and conditioner I used to keep it looking so great.

So, no.

Yeah well if you have a kitchen faucet that leaks all the damn time then the water bill becomes a big effin problem.

Thats why I only take one shower once a month. save on the water bill a little bit.

PLus if you keep showering every day like some of you do or claim, its just gonna ruin your hair with all those conditioners and shampoos every time

I don't wash my hair every time

There is a guy at work who smells really bad.
I don't think he showers at all(or veeeeeeeery rarely at least) which is really freaking gross.

The fact that it doesn't seem a problem for your anecdotally doesn't actually change the fact that most of the science suggests you really shouldn't do it in general.

There's also the other factor to consider, which is that while your hair may be healthy and vital enough to not be bothered by it too much when you're younger, you'll start noticing more problems as you get older. My hair now definitely has more issues than my hair did at age 20.

True. But it also depends on how the hair is washed (type of water. Desalinated water is a big no-no) and what products are used.

If one washes his or her hair daily there are things to consider. The temperature must be right and the scalp should be massaged carefully and thoroughly. Shampoo that has oil should be used and hair to be conditioned from the scalp to its ends.

Personally I do this daily and the results are amazing.

I'm 41 and still have great hair after more than 25 years of daily washing. More grey than before and a slightly higher hairline. But its still just as soft, shiny and strokeable as it was 20 years ago. I wash my hair every day and it's still fantastic.

I not concerned with what "most scientists say" about other people's hair. You chose my post, replied to me and told me that I was ruining my hair. That I was going to make my hair brittle and cause split ends. That simply isn't the case. You didn't make a general statement about other people. You made it about me.

Only if I plan to leave the house(like work or getting food or wherever), meeting someone(even at my house), after workouts(literally just running), or if I just feel kinda gross. So, not everyday, but close to it.

I also heard the same thing about hair. Most of my closest friends are females who take great care of their hair. And it's apparently bad to wash it everyday. I also heard showering everyday could potentially be bad for the skin. Especially hot showers, like I take. But, whatever. Anyway, it night also depend on where you live. People who live in colder places could probably go longer without one...

Once a day, I just feel gross otherwise, even in the winter.

I might skip a Saturday or Sunday once in a while, but at the end of the day I just feel nasty and usually regret it.

I took a shower today. first day of March too by the way.

I might take one more shower later this month like the last week before April.

But I hear there might be a blizzard coming this weekend so its back to back breaking shoveling maybe. Then Ill probably take a shower anyway due to hard shoveling sweating in my winter coat.

About every other day, or more often whenever I get dirty or sweaty. Sometime I'll skip the weekend if I'm just laying at home doing absolutely nothing.

I shower twice a day usually. Once at work after I cycle in and once when I get home after cycling.

Hate it but it's the sacrifice i make.
