The ones glued to the back of your teeth? I've had one ever since I got my braces taken off...13 years ago? And the shit just snapped while I was eating potato chips!

It's still glued to my teeth, but I just tested out flossing and the thread now slips out from between the teeth immediately instead of hitting the wire barrier. Good thing I just purchased a dental insurance plan!

Mine is on my bottom teeth. I wonder if they'll be able to remove and replace it with a new wire? I never thought this could happen, lol

Why would you need 13 years of tooth straightening?

Because the teeth could shift out of place again? Tooth alignment isn't permanent on its own. I haven't worn my top retainer so my overbite has grown over the years.

So you'd rather a permanent reinforcing beam in your face than a few wonky teeth?

I prefer having one of my teeth 3/4 over another, it's no big deal.

My bad for the late reply, but yeah I got it fixed. I remember needing to pry a part of the broken bit out of my mouth because the remaining piece was so sharp that it cut my tongue. That was definitely super uncomfortable!

You still have to keep the wire after the braces permanently go out?

It was placed after the braces. It's behind the teeth.

Indeed, the google search showed something different than I was imagining. Was imagining the wire between the back, uhm, forgot the word, the teeth that are in the back but aren't actually called teeth...

Yes, mine snapped like a long while after I first got them. I got it fixed with the same orthodontist and I think they just used a stronger type of glue. How often do you still wear the removable top retainer?

Never, man. I have a night guard now and I don't wear that either. I haven't been to my first orthodontist since I was 14.
