I agree with the ranking. I didn't like cell in the show much. Honestly, I liked the lead-up to cell more than cell. The end fight was pretty epic, I will give it that.

DBZA cell is amazing though. Can't wait to see the final fight.

Frieza Saga = Saiyan Saga > Cell Saga > Buu Saga.

The Buu Saga kinda sucks. Nappa and Vegeta were cool villains. Frieza Saga is where it should have ended, but Cell Saga was acceptable.

Buu saga defintely had a drop in quality but not as large as the Cell games. Buu was a fun villian turning people into chocolate and snacks. Cell was just the regular egomaniac complex with borrowed movesets.

OG Dragon Ball was defintely better than DBZ. Kid Goku was cold, he gave no fucks about sparing his opponent, he just wiped a whole army without a single thought.

I like Vegeta, but he's a total jobber.

Although, Goku vs Vegeta way back in the Saiyan Saga is still one of my favorite DBZ fights.

Cell's backstory broke the suspension of disbelief. You're telling me a man-made bio-android is stronger than Frieza, a being who could blow up planets with little effort. Dr Gero literally surpass the strongest being in the galaxy with some nuts and bolts. Alien tech must be super primitive if they couldn't create androids to fend against Frieza.

Cell needing the Androids to reach his perfect form made no sense either. Why not just make him perfect straight up?

Buu looked cool and turnt people into chocolate and healed a blind kid and his dog and took spongebaths. Cell just stood still in an arena for 11 days.

my favorite fights in DBZ:

saiyan saga (pretty much of all of it)
ginyu force fights
frieza (with vegeta, piccolo and goku)
cell vs goku

other stuff:

the tournament with olibu/pikkon (I think that was filler but still)
cooler/janeba fights.

Cell was great before he became perfect. Up until that he was this creepy, monstrous thing that came out of a horror film. The Z-fighters were chasing him down. I actually git chills when Picollo first encountered him. And there's the double conflict where they want to stop the androids, but also have to make sure Cell doesnt get them.

But then he became perfect and he got kind of boring. Gohan makes up for it though.

I rewatched the Buu saga a few years ago and it wasnt as bad as I remember. Feels a lot better when youre not waiting week after week for it.

I think Cell saga is the only one I caught in full and then it was just bits and pieces of the other ones.

I just binged Yu Yu Hakusho for the first time and it made me want to do the same with the Dragonball shows, but that's just too much and there's so much better stuff out there

No, the Frieza/Namek saga is definitely not the best in DBZ. Now in DBZ Kai, after all the filler is trimmed out, I'm inclined to agree with you.

The fight was drawn out but it defintely was hype. Goku finally went Super Saiyan and is about to avenge Vegeta, Krillin and his Saiyan race. Also, besides Goku's spaceship training, there were no training arcs and it was like a guerilla warfare tournament.

Frieza fight drags on. That can't be the best arc.

Tbh all the major fights except the Saiyan Saga fights were dragged out. Cell torturing Gohan's friends to anger him was stupid when he could've just ended him.

Buu had less melodrama and more action and comedy.
