I could never get into the Elder Scrolls or Fallout games. I recognize that they are good games and they deserve the praise, but my god the characters are so boring to me and the combat just doesnt have the weight I like behind it.

Its a shame too because I find the world cool to look at and I like the soundtrack.

PUBG immediately comes to mind. Frankly it's an unfinished, mess of a game that costs way more than you get out of it and is just flat out boring.

Fortnite Battle Royale is more polished, fun, and its free.

Not many, really. Paper Mario TTYD comes to mind, but I replayed the same part that almost put me to sleep last year and it wasn't bad. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it. It was enough to get me to keep going had it been my game, which it wasn't.

There's also GTAIV and Skyward Snore, but both of those are bad games that even fans of the franchises feel lukewarm toward. That would have gotten 5s and 6s instead of 10s from the rags if they weren't from their series (GTAIV is a 4/10 game; Skyward Snore a 3/10).

Secret of Mana. I've never been able to get around its combination of lag, ridiculous enemy invincibility frames, and enemy evasion making the basic combat feel like a slog. In a game that makes the player take time between hits if you want to do notable damage and has a charge-up mechanic that takes forever in order to discourage mashing the attack button and make individual attacks count, getting your attacks nullified or delayed due to the game being poorly designed and programmed and giving you poor feedback on what went wrong is really frustrating.

I think Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean's battle systems have aged really poorly even compared to Eternia and Star Ocean 2. And they've basically both got generic SNES RPG plots that try a little or pretend to maybe be something different for a bit before pretty much giving up a few hours in and their characters generally aren't good either. I kind of feel these two are good counterarguments to nostalgia being the reason why people love old games so much because practically nobody in the English-speaking world even played these when they were relevant, I don't think they're good at this point, and yet they still ended up fondly thought of!

Haha, we finally have a differing opinion. I was hoping for a creepy game with terrifying finale. I appreciate what they were going for with the twist, but I was just hoping for some more scares.

Basically anything that's multiplayer-focused. PUBG, TF2, any MOBA, most MMOs unless they're soloable with a proper storyline (and F2P is viable for the story).

Also Diablo, GTA and Earthbound.

I actually really like the ending

The whole game they play off of horror tropes, and then always play them off with a more logical explanation (ex. Lights flickering creepily until you find an note about calling the electrician) so I think an actual horror ending kind of misses the point
